Comment Re:How do you think it works in the EU ? (Score 1) 507

I do know that there are many states that have taxes that vary by county.

It's worse than that. In Texas, the sales tax varies by city. There are a few towns/villages in the D/FW area that are literally a few blocks in size.

At the risk of sounding absurd, in all seriousness, it can get worse than that. I live in a state with sales tax. I live in a county that has a sales tax. I live in an unincorporated part of the county outside of a city that has a sales tax, but my address indicates (for mail delivery reasons) that I do live in that city. My zip code does not belong to that city, but does include at least two other cities that have their own sales tax rates. There's times when I can barely figure out what my sales tax rate is, how is Amazon supposed to?

I would say that's a very minority Christian view. I'm a Christian AND a registered organ donor. In fact, here's a listing of various denominations of Christianity (and other religions) and their view of organ donation. Granted I only skimmed the list, but I did not see one that opposed organ donation, and a number that highly recommend it as an act of Christian love.

A Money Order should suffice as long as you retain your copy.

While you have adhered to the text of my request, you have ignored the spirit. I doubt there are Europeans abandoning checks in droves in favor of money orders.

Then let me ask how you would handle the following situation (one of the few in which I use checks):

* I have a friend who watches my son during the day.
* I need to pay this person every two weeks.
* I need proof that I've paid this person for a given time period so no disputes arise.
* Being as this person only watches my child (apart from hers) she is not a "business" per se and thus doesn't accept credit cards.

I am honestly not being snarky or combative, but if checks are truly a thing of the past in some places I would like to see what they've been replaced with.

You joke, but you're not far off in my experience. I have three dogs: one Golden, one Australian Shepherd, and one English Springer Spaniel. I have always heard Goldens were bright, but mine definitely isn't. He knows how to fetch, sit, lay, and stay, and that's about it. By comparison my Australian Shepherd seems to know exactly what I'm talking about at all times. My wife call them the "dumb blonde" and the "smart brunette."
