Nowadays when I here modern music and auto tune all I hear is the greed and it really is off putting, so my preferred choice is to not listen at all. Every now and again I might listen to some old content but that is to recapture the emotions recalled with specific memories associated with that content, rather than listening to the music and I really don't do that much either. Other than that maybe some bargain bin diving where their reward is absolutely minimal. The shake down is already occurring in the PR bullshit associated with the story. The people targeted are not down loaders, they were torrenting hence they were uploaders, that is a huge distinction which main stream media in Australia is purposefully and corruptly distorting.

As for iinet turning to crap, it is inevitable. TPG is simply paying more for iinet than it is worth and to get that money back they will offshore and cripple support and services. This will create a hole in the market for other companies to exploit as users inevitably leave after the first undecipherable support call.

Which is why you tend to limit it to minor fines, a simple network traffic authority and for more severe crimes you escalate it to a full investigation by other authorities. It means a lot of current major felonies in terms of computer and network crimes drop to misdemeanour's and fines but they are much more readily applied, in much the same context as a speeding fine or a parking fine. So an administrative regulatory authority. The main feature being skilled people who can keep up with computer crimes and network crimes and computer forensics. They provide a place for the ready reporting of spam, phishing attacks, spy ware reports, forum spamming, virus and trojan reporting etc.. The fines could be quite severe for repeated offences.

This whole government attack on all things UFO based on the ludicrous idea that humans are the only intelligent species in this galaxy, really is beginning to smell more like their complete and total impotence when it keeps to dealing with stuff not of this world or even just the idea of it. So they are desperate to maintain a front of control and authority, not of course for the benefit of humanity but to serve their own greed, lusts and ego. Kind of like the crazy conspiracy theories of governments colluding with aliens, trying to create the subconscious illusion that somehow those governments have some influence over what is happening beyond the thin skin of our own atmosphere. For manual systems to work, you have to practice them. Make sure the courier rider is still there, make sure the forms are still there and make sure the boxes of pencils are still there. Basically the military needs to keep manual systems going because when all else fails, part of their function is to remain functioning. Military transport vehicles at their very core should be very reliable, very fuel efficient and be capable of running without electronics. They have the bodies and keeping them busy with paperwork and manual systems makes sense. A highly automated civil society requires a very manual defence structure to ensure when that highly automated civil society fails for what ever reason it can be readily rebuilt with manual system. Rebuilding automation when you are totally reliant on automation to achieve it, will take a very long painful time. The major solar flare, the meteorite impact, that series of major seismic events, all need to be taken into account when organised how you military systems are managed, they are not just for blowing stuff up and killing people, in a modern world their primary roles should be building stuff and saving people otherwise you are just wasting resources to waste resources.

Comment Wrong Authority (Score 1) 39

The FBI is not really the correct authority to deal with this problem. It should really be an empowered communications authority that works with local and federal policing agencies to track and prosecute these communications network crimes. It could certainly escalate up to a federal investigation but the initial response should be much more readily accessible to the public and a focus on fines for poor network behaviour. This then escalating up to agents in the field for more intense investigation, not communications authority agents but Federal and State police investigative agents.

The numbers will bog down investigative agencies and in the end much like house breaking or car theft, nothing much will be done about because they are simply unable to cope with the numbers. So much like traffic offences, it becomes more an administrative control with simple more readily applicable penalties and should it require it, escalation into full investigation by the appropriate policing authorities.

The most dangerous thing you can do if you have lots of primary resources is to allow a US military base in your country, they will never ever be there for your benefit and will remain a constant threat.
