Comment Bill of rights (Score 1) 3
In reality, the Bill of Rights ceased to exist shortly after 9/11. However I don't remember any Declaration of War from congress. 10 years later (endless, undeclared, off budget wars), now the government doesn't even "pretend" the Bill of Rights or the Constitution even exist anymore. There is no Freedom of the Press (all "owned"). There is No Free Speech. With all the unconstitutional surveillance of all Americans telephone, email and internet there is no longer any protection from unreasonable search and seizure. Secret courts, secret commissions, secret orders, secret interpretations, secret lists, secret decisions to kill US citizens, etc. all of this makes me want to throw up.
"Papers please" to travel and fondle or computerized strip searches without cause or reasonable belief (even elderly and children) is clearly in my mind not only stupid but also unconstitutional. WTF! Looking at essentially nude picture and fondling children is OK so long as you are wearing a TSA uniform and working in an airport (sometimes bus or train terminal, etc), everywhere else it is sex crime. What have these people done to my country! Baggage handlers and security can easily steal from checked baggage. This is nothing more than "security theater" and an enormous waste of resources and money.
I am more afraid of my government than I am of terrorists.
"We the People" does not include faceless corporations who are free from prosecution for their misdeeds and corruption of our elected leaders. Now all 3 branches of the government have been thoroughly corrupted by greed.
This is nothing short of wholesale subversion of the Constitution or in other words, specifically mentioned in the Constitution, treason.
IMHO. This government no longer functions according to the law of the land (the Constitution) and it is therefore unconstitutional. The only hope to try to fix the current government is to completely remove all financial influence from all forms of government completely and permanently (Constitutional amendment). End the corruption, this is fast becoming a 3rd world country. Please save my/our country.
Personally I think it is too late, and the only solution is another Continental Congress. This one is too broken to fix. Maybe we can learn from our mistakes when we start over.
