Submission + - The Queen Joins Facebook (bbc.co.uk)

H3xx writes: The Queen is set to have an official presence on Facebook when a British Monarchy page launches on the internet-based social networking site. Buckingham Palace says it is not a personal profile page, but users can "like" the service and receive updates on their news feed.

The Queen has reportedly embraced the web and sends e-mails. A British Monarchy Twitter feed is also available.

The Facebook page is due to go live from Monday morning. The page will also feature the Court Circular, recording the previous day's official engagements.

Small, High-Resolution LCD Monitors? 370

An anonymous reader writes "I'm a veteran user of an old 17" Dell Trinitron CRT monitor. I run it at 1400x1050 with an 80Hz refresh rate — about as high as it goes before it'll go out of the monitor's scan range. More recently I've been looking to finally upgrade to an LCD monitor but found that, for the most part, every 17" monitor on the market runs natively at 1280x1024, as does every 19" monitor — I have to go for a 20" to go higher. Now yes, I know I'm complaining about just 120 pixels horizontal and 26 pixels vertical, but my laptop's 15" display runs natively at 1400x1050. Is there any standalone monitor on the market that'll natively do higher than 1280x1024 without killing my desk space?"

Submission + - Math Major

xvdarkyvx writes: Hey Guys. I'm thinking of going to a applied and computational mathematics major with a Comp sci minor. What type of jobs should I expect to get and what would be the salary? Do you think I can do some type of programming with this degree? I'm at a crossroad right now, so any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

Funny thing - I don't know if it's been mentioned already. Grabbing the model name, pumping it into Google and after "feeling Lucky", the first thing I see is:

HP recommends Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional

It's funny how you only notice these things after reading a relevant /. article.
