That argument would hold more water when talking about TPB if TPB actually hosted links to non-pirated material.

Megaupload and the various services like that store, and share if they wish, whatever its users put up on it, but TPB always was just for the exchange of pirate material.

Except Taiwan really is China, whereas the US has not been a colony for over 200 years.

Taiwan, officially the Republic of China (ROC; Chinese: äèæ'åoe; pinyin: ZhÅnghuà MÃnguÃ), is a state in East Asia. Originally based in mainland China, the Republic of China now governs the island of Taiwan (formerly known as Formosa), which makes up over 99% of its territory, as well as Penghu, Kinmen, Matsu, and other minor islands.

When the clocks went back I set my alarm back an hour. So now I get up an hour earlier, get to work an hour earlier, leave basically an hour earlier.

Ya, not everyone can do it but I don't have a fixed time I have to get to work so I took advantage of it.

No kidding. Don't get me started on that damn World Health Organization.

Sweeping generalizations are always wrong. There are programs in the UN that do good work (WHO). Then there is this plan, which is so obviously bad for everyone except the governments asking for it. You can make that case without looking like a fool by dismissing the UN with a handwave.

Updated version of what? Windows isn't distributed as individual packages from desperate sources, it is developed as a single entity. The BSD's ship patches that you apply to local source and deploy from there for much the same reason.

Not that you couldn't change the development process to work that way (Solaris was a little more like this) but it is a non-trivial change to the workflow. It's not something that could be done on a whim.

"New PC with x86-64" You missed a word there - fast. Is the Core 2 fast enough or do you need a i5 or an i7? Does it have to be an Intel processor or will a recent AMD work? I don't know, but I do see that the supposedly user friendly and entry Linux desktop distos assume that you bought your desktop or laptop in the last 6 months and I would guess most people looking to switch or try something new don't buy a new computer to do it on.
