It is strongly implied in this story that the Daleks have the power of flight; they are seen moving on two levels of the Mary Celeste, and the cliffhanger to the first episode shows a Dalek that has been buried in sand free itself by rising vertically. It would not be until Revelation of the Daleks in 1985 that a Dalek would actually be shown airborne.

You've hit it on the head: EXACTLY what is wrong with Steam. Why would I pay retail prices or MORE to receive no install media, no printed manuals, no feelies and no package, plus pay for the distribution myself through ISP charges? Screw that.

Let's see prices that reflect the lower distribution cost, lower quality product, lack of resale value and lower stock risk. Let's see playable demos of everything. Let's see a proper guarantee that Steam games will contiunue to work when the Steam service shuts down.

Steam is pants. Don't buy pants.

Or you could use OpenOffice and the end result would be:
1) You produced an MS Office file, 2) You paid EXACTLY nothing 3) You're legal so MS can complain all they like but it won't help them.

Steam really need to sort their shit out. TFA has a long list of legitimate complaints about Steam. In particular, Steam really should sell their downloads for less than the box price. If it undercuts the retailers, I don't care. I don't need another middleman in my supply chain.

When you buy a game from Steam:

1. You can't re-sell it. Customers should be compensated for this by paying less up-front.

2. You run the risk of never being allowed to play your game again if Valve go bankrupt and shut down their servers. This is simply unacceptable.

3. You pay for the megabytes to have the game delivered to you. You should be compensated for this.

4. You don't get any printed material, so your purchase is worth less. Again, this should result in a lower price.

Jimmy Wales Faces Allegations of Corruption 289

eldavojohn writes "The SFGate site has up an article noting that Jimmy Wales, the founder of Wikipedia, is facing allegations from multiple quarters accusing him of abusing his power. Several people apparently claim he used the foundation to pay for personal expenses, including reimbursement for a $1,300 dinner for four at a Florida steakhouse. Accusations have also been made indicating that he edited the Wikipedia entry of political commentator Rachel Marsden, a woman he was seeing, at her request. In the case of that allegation, Wales replied that 'I acted completely consistently with Wikipedia policy. I did the right thing: I passed along my work to date for other editors to deal with, and I recused myself from the case.'"
