I like Eve Online, subscriber for close to a decade (2 accounts). A book is way more immersive than this game. I'll admit that I haven't encountered E.O. role players maybe they have different experiences but only thing that's sci-fi about Eve is the setting and the jump gates. The setting might be argued as a big components but it's fairly static. There is no real new discovery just existing things are occasionally dynamic Wormholes are the only thing that come to mind.

Don't envy them too much. There is a high value placed on text messaging, response time and if something seems off then the analysis of what was said, when, how gets flayed out like an anatomy lab with the closest friend/clique. I have watched this phenomena play out the last 3.5 years and I always pity the fool who screwed up a response.

Of course people should get paid if they were promised an internship but end up doing menial labor. But they have a simple solution: they can just walk away from their unpaid internship without losing anything. If you voluntarily stay in an unpaid internship, presumably you are getting something out of it.

The insidious effect of this rule will be to place organizations providing good unpaid internships at a much higher legal risk, because the organizations that provide them now have to worry about getting dragged into court by a disgruntled intern for back pay. That not only means they are going to be less likely to have interns in the first place, it also means that interns who can't clearly contribute at a high level from day one have to be kicked out right away.

Negative. What this means is that internship offerings will have to be more concrete in what the learning outcomes will be and also not replace low skill work (e.g. go clean the bathroom - unless you are in zoology and it's animal bathrooms) for interns . Will there be less offerings? Maybe a little but the internships that do stay will be more valuable for both the student and business in the end.

Think of the children. It only takes one failed attempt at a child/teen trying to notify parents that she is in a bad situation for this to get flushed down the toilet. It will suck because it will be a reactive reversal of this policy and some one will have to suffer. 911 call centers are starting to accept 911 texts in acknowledgement that a call instead of a text is a bad idea when one is hiding during a home invasion.
