I've always been able to play all of my games even when the steam connection is down. Regardless of that, I think we passed the point of being dependent on an internet connection a long time ago.
Sensationalism indeed. Small 10-30 minute Steam downtimes have happened before. Really not a big deal. Steam consistently has such absurdly good prices and (imo) a great service, that I reall don't mind if there are a few hiccups.
I don't like the fact Win8 has two "modes" and hidden context/UI, but frankly, being a VIM user, I don't think I have the right to make that complaint.
The Mayans did not predict a doomsday. This is simply the reset of their calendar. Of course: intelligence is relative. I'm not really sure what the point of asserting that an ancient civilization knew less then a modern one would be.
It's not perfect in achieving it's goals, so it's unsuitable and totally worthless. Let us go on not having any solution at all and twiddle our thumbs waiting for the 100% perfect option which will never happen.

I wanted to try to do things, like add a weapon bar or ammo counter, so I would search the forums and community resources http://www.garagegames.com/community/resources to find tutorials about how to modify the code. Most people on the forums were happy to chat about adding features and many of the resource tutorial developers would provide help with the code they provided.
I learned a lot tinkering with one of the older Torque engines when I was young. The community was very helpful and accepting of those with little to no programming experience. This should be a great addition to open resources.
I never said it was a good definition. I only meant to explain that it is defined in a way where you are clearly in operation of the vehicle when pulled over. I completely agree this definition has many downfalls, like the one you suggest.
