We used to have plastic £5 notes in Northern Ireland. They featured a picture of the space shuttle. Best connection any of us could come up with is that Northern Ireland is on a planet that the space shuttle has orbited.
I can almost hear the migraines lining up to assault me now.
Sumatriptan is your friend. I started having migraines badly about 15 years ago. They stopped, but then a couple of years ago. My doctor gave me sumatrpitan, to be taken when a migraine comes on. They are MAGIC. A migraine can be gone in less than 5 minutes.
Ever been poked accidentally by a barber? Now, what happens if they draw blood (even a drop is enough) and you're HIV positive? It's a reasonable question to ask.
The thing is, there are a lot of blood-borne diseases, and not everybody who has them knows they have them. If someone's blood gets drawn, you have to assume that it is carrying HIV et al.
It always used to amuse me that my homophobic brother watched WWE while disapproving of me watching Queer as Folk.
"Supernatural" means "cannot be explained by currently known laws of physics", doesn't it?
Yep, I think that's a reasonable conclusion. There was a lot of nastiness going on.
There is no doubt that the attempted rape of the angels was pretty detestable, but why would it be typical? If Sodom was known for being full of rapists, why didn't Ezekiel say? Why did Christ talk about Sodom in the context of inhospitality, not rape?
Yes, there are some very nasty parts in the Bible, particularly the crucifixion of Christ. The Bible is a book about people, and people are nasty.
Actually, the sin of Sodom is made very clear in the Bible, in Ezekiel 16:49-50:
Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy. They were haughty and did detestable things before me. Therefore I did away with them as you have seen.
They did not help the poor and needy. Nothing to do with sex, gay or otherwise. I wrote something about this a few years ago.
Of course: denial of the reality you can see for yourself, by yourself, with your own eyes - because it conflicts with some absurd, childish dogma somewhere - is one of the hallmarks of religious people (= liars).
That is not what I do, and that is not what most religious people I know do.
Gay, Straight, and the Reason Why: The Science of Sexual Orientation covers various physical and psychological differences between males and females. Pages 107 to 109 refer to the studies that may be of interest to you.
distasteful to all honest (=non-religious) people.
You can't equate "honest" and "non-religious". I'm religious, and I believe things that I cannot prove to be true[1]. That is honest.
[1]I suspect most people believe things that they cannot prove to be true, but that's another discussion.
That is a good plan.
It's bloody scary when everything is a 1 though.
