I had to build one when the local PBS affiliate reduced their power output when the other stations went digital --- also location, had to run a cable upstairs and put the antenna behind the sofa (have to move it to the window when the weather is bad --- my wife won't let me hang it on the wall).

Some apps have jailbreak detection and will not run, or issue a warning, on jailbroken iOS devices. An app called "Divide" used for keeping work data via MS Exchange (mail, contacts, calendar, etc.) separate from your normal stuff is one.

As a guy with some experience, all I hear is "younger people blindly follow the newest fads". As it turns out, there have been very little new ideas in IT, and most of the New! Improved! ways promoted these days are merely restatements of old ideas, or old ideas that got discarded for being unpractical.

But in an industry with an institutional memory of barely a decade, that sounds like innovation. And it's self-reinforcing due to the fact that not a lot of employers appear to be interested in hiring experience, instead being dazzled by the Cult of Youth.

The problem is that there isn't that much energy to harvest --- look at some of the electric conversions --- every one which I've seen which has considered regenerative energy has rejected it 'cause it doesn't make up for the added weight.

The bad thing is the per-axle nature of the vehicle taxes actually encourages the design of tractor-trailor designs which do even more damage --- change it to a tax based on GVW divided by the contact area of the tires (and do a tire tax based on the mass of the tire) and you'd encourage the design of vehicles which aren't so hard on the roads.

This is why Apple should resurrect its ZFS project. Overnight they would be the largest ZFS vendor to match with being the largest UNIX vendor.

In the olden days, they'd round them all up, lock them in a barn and set it on fire. Now it's a ~disability~.

Michael Peevey mentions "safey rules" but then goes on to 'lacking airport permits, as well as lacking proper "trade dress" on their vehicles and lacking proof of insurance.' Ok, lacking proof of insurance I can understand. So carry papers in the glovebox and all is well.
Airport permits? That's just money denied to the airports. I'd wager the complaints that are not from cabbies are from the airport authorities for this very reason.
Trade dress? Fine, slap on a cheap magnetic sign. That is not a safety issue.

They dress is up as "safety rules" but the real motives are financial.

Yeah, the cabbies are complaining. I would guess non-cabbies love the service.

It's a double negative. In reality the wireless chargers work flawlessly.
