Comment Uline does too (Score 1) 331

Amazon built a new BIG distribution center just up I94 here in southern Wisconsin from where Uline has their corporate headquarters and many warehouses and distribution centers. And Uline makes you sign non-competes as well for ALL their positions. Their's though are for 12 months not 18. I know - I had to sign one....

This "hiring" manager sounds more like he is looking for a reason for being able to hire an H1B. There is enough people here that have pointed out some very valid points as to the lack of the interviewers skill in interviewing for developers.I would say to this person - learn MORE about what you are interviewing for and what specific skills the developers need for the position and make darn sure that is what is in the job posting! I've interviewed for many developer jobs where the job posting and the interview questions were polar opposites! The asked for one set of skills in the job posting and then asked about a completely different set of skills in the interview. I chock that up to cranial rectumitus syndrome!

I was looking at houses in Wisconsin and looked at the below house. There is a cell tower on it that is fenced in. The realtor told us that the property the cell tower is on is owned by a . We drove up to the fenced in area around the cell tower and to the right of it is a brick building with a big steel door on it it that has a sign that says "Property of the Federal Government". There are big black cables going right from the cell tower into the brick building and back out again. It's a DIRECT tap off the cell phone tower!

Isis is a direct offshoot from Al-Qaeda (who was lead by Osama Bin Laden), Al-Qaeda came from the Mujahdeen (who were lead by Osama Bin Laden). And GUESS WHO Funded and TRAINED the Mujahdeen? It was the U.S./CIA back in the 80's! They trained them to fight the Russians during the 80's when the Russians were invading Afghanistan.

So, Isis is directly resulted from Jimmy Carter AND Ronald Regan!

Folks wake up - it was the U.S. and the CIA who funded and trained these folks. And it was the result of Democrat AND Republican presidents!

Look this all up - it's in the history books!

Comment See no need to go to git (Score 0) 245

SVN works just fine. I see no need to move our corporate version control to git. GIt is fine of your doing a world wide project like the Linux kernel - but there is absolutely no to use a distributed version control in an enterprise. Git is fine for world wide open source projects, People should be free to use whatever they want - isn't that the whole idea behind open source? Heck if someone wants to use RCS - go for it - why should I care.ESR is just starting a war of version control. IF he wants to use git - let him, if we want to use SVN that's our prerogative.... git is just Napster for source code.

"because of us you have many thousands more people paying property/school/sales taxes and supporting the local economy. Other places would be willing to offer us a break on our corporate taxes if we moved there instead and benefitted their economy. So why don't you?"

ONLY Businesses can get away with this. The average citizen couldn't. Say I went to my city and said "you should give me a tax break because I spend my pay check in your city and without me you would have that much less local income." Sorry but it wouldn't work - they would LAUGH me out of the city council meeting. Why should big businesses be any different. Sure maybe give them -some- breaks but not the massive ones they get. Having worked for Cabelas I -know- how much they get out of a city to bring one of their stores into town. The big difference is big businesses can shove tons of money into the pockets of the politicians as well as pay for trips and golf outings, or put money in their re-election coffers and magically the business gets what it wants.

Sorry folks but Corporations - run this country and drive ALL the decisions not -YOU- - your vote means diddly squat! They only thing politicians care about is $$$$ to make their decisions. So if you want a politician to vote the way you want - be prepared to cough up LOTS of $$$$ to them somehow.
