One question that I've always had: Why do people still use Oracle or other big name, expensive RDBMS when there are open-source offerings as complete as PostgreSQL? Is it a matter of organizational momentum?

Was in a meeting down by the Ford buildings when the tremors hit. Thought that they were doing construction on the level below us - didn't even know it was an earthquake until 30 minutes later.

An anonymous reader writes "Apple iPad users are being warned of an email-borne threat which could give hackers unauthorised access to the device. The threat arrives via an unsolicited email urging the recipient to download the latest version of iTunes as a prelude to updating their iPad software. Apart from opening up a backdoor, it also tries to read the keys and serial numbers of the software installed on the device, and logs the passwords to any webmail, IM or protected storage accounts."

The Apple news site is reporting that a just-aired AT&T Wireless commercial advertises the Apple handset will be available beginning June 29th. The spot aired on CBS at approximately 7:00 p.m. eastern time. It included a brief demonstration of some iPhone functions, ending with Apple-branded splash screen and the June 29th availability date.
