Submission + - Apple Updates 15" MacBook Pro

Villageidiot9390 writes: "Apple has just updated their professional laptop offering. Amongst the updates Apple will now utilize the Santa Rosa chipset and now has processor speeds at up to 2.4GHz. In addition to these changes, Apple has updated the screens on both the 15" and 17" versions of their MacBook Pros. The 15" screen now features a mercury free LED backlit display. The 17" screen now has a native resolution of 1920x1200 pixels."

Submission + - iPhone available on June 29th

bobbybobber writes: AppleInsider has the good word on iPhone availability. The Apple news site is reporting that a just-aired AT&T Wireless commercial advertises the Apple handset will be available beginning June 29th. The spot aired on CBS at approximately 7:00 p.m. eastern time. It included a brief demonstration of some iPhone functions, ending with Apple-branded splash screen and the June 29th availability date.
It's funny.  Laugh.

MPAA Goes After Home Entertainment Systems 402

philba writes to tell us that home theaters may become the new jurisdiction of our MPAA overlords. The MPAA is lobbying to make sure that home users authorize their entertainment systems before any in-home viewings. From the article: "The MPAA defines a home theater as any home with a television larger than 29" with stereo sound and at least two comfortable chairs, couch, or futon. Anyone with a home theater would need to pay a $50 registration fee with the MPAA or face fines up to $500,000 per movie shown."

Bug Pushes Vista Out to November 8th 285

IntelliAdmin writes "Microsoft originally targeted October 25th for Vista's release to manufacturing, but a last-minute bug that 'took most of the Vista team by surprise' has caused an unexpected delay, said Ethan Allen, a quality assurance lead at a Seattle high-tech company that tests its products for Vista. Allen said the Vista team discovered the bug, which 'would totally crash the system, requiring a complete reinstall'. Vista now has a new RTM date of November 8th" A reader wrote in to point out this story originated with Paul Thurrott.

Details On IE7 CSS Changes 203

writes "IE development team has released a list of CSS changes for IE7. Some of the notable new features are enabling :hover for all elements, and implementing position:fixed, and PNG transparency support. In addition, there is a long list of fixed bugs that plagued previous IE browsers for years. These changes (except for PNG transparency) only work under the <!DOCTYPE> switch to preserve compatibility with previous versions of IE."

An extract: 'An [apparently simple] task roster belies the complexity of the role of games journalist. For example, playing a game with an eye towards reviewing it differs from playing it purely for fun and, if it happens to be a terrible game (which you will see more than your fair share of in time), it may not be such an enjoyable experience. Dealing with PR people ... can be tiresome to degrees depending on the nature of the PR person (some are more tiresome than others, let's just say).'"
