Submission + - Canadian coins not bugged after all

Foobar_ writes: The Defense Security Service (an agency of the Department of Defense) has retracted its claims that it found tiny transmitters hidden inside Canadian coins, as previously reported on Slashdot and just about everywhere else. From the release: "This statement was based on a report provided to DSS. The allegations, however, were found later to be unsubstantiated following an investigation into the matter. According to DSS officials, the 2006 annual report should not have contained this information." Canada.com reports further.

Submission + - Californian woman dies in Wii contest

orudge writes: "A Californian woman has died after taking part in a "Hold Your Wee For A Wii" contest run by radio station KDND in Sacramento. From the article: A work colleague said Ms Strange had reported her head was hurting hours after the contest and was going home. Ms Strange, 28, was found dead on Friday at her house in Rancho Cordova. Local assistant coroner Ed Smith said initial tests showed death was "consistent with water intoxication"."
