Comment Re:Yes, let's bring that back (Score 4, Insightful) 259

The time when everything needed to be specifically ported to a machine to make it perform bearably or at all. How I missed having stuff not work without that extra length to go to.

On embedded hardware, that time never ended... And the rPi isn't really fast enough that you can just run in all software, or even with just the relatively feeble OpenGL hardware, and pretend.

Not to mention the Pi is only $35 and uses a few watts of power, you cant expect current laptop class performance for that price.

The OP ignores the fact that incorporating this tech into the major Pi distros and projects is only work for the developers of said projects, not end users.
End users just wait for the next software update, and then they get vastly improved graphics performance.

I fail to see what on earth is wrong with a major advance in performance to a specific piece of hardware.
I just smell the acrid stench of cynicism wafting from the general direction of the OP.

Comment Hate because Its not iGlass (Score 1, Troll) 775

All the hate is because it is not made by Apple.

If it was iGlass, the love-in would be tremendous. Of course, if Apple made it, there would be no customer input, no previews, no leaks and no idea the product even existed until after the "one more thing..." moment arrived.

But after that, the store lines would already be forming.

Since you seem to have put some effort into your Trollpost, Ill put some effort in judging how well you did.

After some deliberation, I have awarded you a 4/10.

You scored points for the effort required to type out your Trollpost, as well as doing some research on the current bunk believed by serious UFO nutcases. I also awarded you points for your attention to spelling and grammar. ( many Troll attempts fail at even simple primary school level English )

Unfortunately, I marked you down due to the obvious nature of your Troll attempt, and the lack of anything controversial thats required to elicit an acceptable response to a proper Troll.
Nothing you have posted is even slightly believable to even the uneducated, so is not likely to succeed as a viable Troll post.

In all, not a bad attempt, I surely have seen worse on Slashdot, but with some more effort and research, you should be able to pull off a good Troll in the future.

I also bet there's someone that gets this, pulls the trigger at a picture of someone they hate, and then leaves the gun lying around their house. It wouldn't work, not that it wouldn't be fun to try.

The abort would be when you release the trigger.

Just because you are used to corruption in the USA, doesn't mean its like that the world over.

You actually *dont* have to put up with political corruption and bribery in America. It is actually OK to protest against corruption. Seriously. ( im not trolling )

Of course? How is it obvious that it is not bribery? I dont see anything obvious as to why it is not.

Giving a politician money for the purpose of influencing said politicians support of legislation is corruption, fair and square.

There are no ifs or buts, it is corruption.

And this corruption is so widespread, and so accepted ( and even expected ), that the American people think nothing of it, and accept it as simply a part of doing politics.

Leader of the Free World my ass.

I live in a first world western democracy, and here, this sort of corruption is illegal. Why is this allowed in the USA?

Though it is only a question of time before robotics will be dexterous and smart enough to go out and replace a broken module like what just happened. In the meantime, Humans +1 | Robots +0.
