It literally costs me nothing to walk out my front door, walk a couple miles into town, and then walk along the river. I can stop for a cup of coffee or a beer on the way. Or the local library, where I can find a book to read that costs me nothing. I have never taken that walk without finding something new on the route to fascinate me.
Can't go outside during the day because of work? That's cool. Go outside when you get home and sit perfectly still, listening carefully for the sounds around you. One was literally at the base of the rock I was sitting on.
But seriously, if you view life as hopeless, you should seek professional help. If you can't afford it, find a church or church like structure. The social interaction will help you. Try the going outside options I mentioned. You're not in a healthy mental space, so you need to change the reality of the world around you.
