What's wrong with this is that the gun loving Quebecois aren't taking God's word that pi is 3.
He made the Sea of cast metal, circular in shape, measuring ten cubits from rim to rim and five cubits high. It took a line of thirty cubits to measure around it. 2 Chronicles, chapter 4 verse 2.
So, did they measure around the rim, or some other part of the Sea? And disregarding all of that, this was several thousand years ago and now we have some other primitive method which is 3% more accurate and we are going to try to use that as proof that God's word is wrong?
I pay $300 for insurance every six months for full coverage on a $25k minivan and liability on another vehicle. What do you think the owner of a $250k ferarri pays, and how much will it go up with 3 speeding tickets? I'm thinking it pays for itself after 2 tickets!
I don't know about a Ferrari, but I had a Lotus Esprit and the insurance on it was about the same for a year as I paid for a month for my other cars. I had to drive it less than 7,000 miles a year, but it was full coverage.
The folks that are delusional are those that believe that the United States is less corrupt than any other society.
I have visited several other societies and I can tell you that the United States is absolutely less corrupt than any other society that I have visited. Of course, I have only witnessed a few: Several Central American Countries, France, South Korea, India, China.
This is what speed cameras are for.
And that is what the license plate for the Benevolent Order of Speed Cameras is for. To raise money for fallen speed cameras and to get out of speed camera tickets.
All it takes is 3 or 4 speeding tickets in pretty much any state and you won't have a valid license, then the next ticket is typically an arrest
That's true. You're much better off getting drunk and running down pedestrians. They'll let you keep your license until you've mowed down at least a dozen and then won't throw you in jail until you've mowed down a dozen more.
Don't forget your yellow ribbon sticker
Yup. How will people know your fella is coming home from jail if you don't have the yellow ribbon?
is donating $2500 to a charity, really worth avoiding a couple potential traffic tickets?
I don't know about California, but in Oklahoma a speeding ticket is going to cost you at least $200. If you avoid two tickets a year, it would pay for itself in 12.5 years.
Of course, I'm a grown up now, and not as likely to be pulled over at any rate. I haven't been pulled over in about 8 years and haven't had a ticket in about 20.
An atheist lacks a belief in a god; nothing more
An agnostic lacks a belief in a god. An Atheist actively believes that god does not exist. It's right there in the word: Agnostic - I don't know if there is a god. Atheist - There is no god.
Funnily enough, you seem to have an unwavering devotion to your own belief system.
How is that funny? Everybody has to believe something. I believe I'll have another drink.
I don't have an unwavering belief in my belief system, but I do have pretty strong faith which can only be moved by evidence to the contrary. I'm not going to refuse to sit in a chair on the assumption that somebody might come along and provide evidence that it doesn't exist.
Why would the universe magically have to have a beginning, but not some sky fairy?
Because in this universe there is such a thing as time, however, if a being created this universe, it seems logical that the being created time as well, and is not subject to the rules of time.
The special pleading knows no bounds. No matter what, idiots are always going to claim their sky daddy is an exception to the rules they say the universe is logically subject to.
Why would a creator be subject to the rules of his creation? Is a painter subject to the rules of his painting? Is a musician subject to the rules of his music? Is a programmer bound by the rules of his programming?
You don't work in the tech industry I take it. I've yet to see a non-compete that offered three years of compensation (typical blackout period that I've seen).
Even if companies did offer three years of compensation, by the time you got to the end of that three years, you would be three years out of date and three years out of a job, and would be lucky to get a job for half of what you were getting paid previously. This is not fair to the employee either. The company would have to compensate you for the three years plus COLA, plus typical raises and bonuses that you got for three years and then continue to pay you at half that rate plus COLA, raises and bonuses for the remainder of your professional career. Or, perhaps they could take the quick way out and just offer you a one time cash settlement. $2 million ought to be reasonable for a typical $100,000 job.
