hmm, I am not sure that is really true.
I mean, a video game was able to get 59 million so far. A video game!
I would expect it is possible to get much, much more than that for something awesome.

I would think that something like a moon hab or station would be perfect for crowd funding.
I think that space is one thing that tons of people are willing to spend money on. I would be willing to put up a few hundred bucks, even if I get nothing in return. So long as the idea is realistic and gets us going in the right direction.
Maybe I will never be able to go into space. At my age, it is likely I won't, but I can at least dream that my kids will go.
Are you really comparing water spend on something so wasteful like farming to something which we need to sustain life, like fracking? wait....
What do you mean "data in between"?
I was given to understand that there is no in between at the quantum level. That it would be an instantaneous event regardless of distance.
Oh, you mean the speedometers that have both measurements on them already? All US cars do. Why the ignorance?
Nope. In fact when we took our GERMAN car to germany, I had to swap out the cluster because it only read in MPH.
Not to mention a replacement for WLAN. I would expect that eFDD17 (700 MHz) band would be far better at going through my brick walls into the basement than my current 5GHz wlan router.
Full speed ahead, and damn the torpedoes!
The only safe ship is the one that never leaves harbor...
Not even then.

There are loads of examples of ships sinking in harbor or while tied to docks.
That the thing about life, it's just too damn easy to die and there isnt any way to prevent it. So, may as well risk it.
Hell, you could be killed by space sitting in your chair at home!

Do yourself a favor, list to it on audiobook. It is narrated by R. C. Bray. who does a fantastic job. It was one of the few times where the I found audiobook more entertaining than when I read it.
...driving his quad on his neighborhood's private road...
I did. Because it is a privately owned road. I.e. private property.
"This will never fly."
I am betting it will fly. While I have not personally had any run ins with the forest service, I know folks who have.
I had one buddy who was ticketed for driving his quad on his neighborhood's private road by a US Forest service agent on Patrol from the adjacent land.
The local judge was going to though the ticket out since you normally cannot get a ticket on your own property. That was until he noticed the ticket came from the forest service.
The judge told him plainly, "sorry son, even we don't F with them. Just pay the ticket and let this go. Just be glad they only gave you a ticket and didn't take your home".
True, but at least it could be transported on a flatbed trailer, rather than an expensive tank truck.
Not to mention, getting water to you cows just got a whole lot easier. Just kick one off the back of your pick-up!
I don't know...It sounds pretty good to me.
Fear yes, but cowardice, no. That is not the point.
Folks in the US seem to have a hard time believing and/or seeing what is going on. It is social engineering 101. You are being taught several things. First and foremost, do not question authority.
They are also trying to teach fear the punishment for any thought of violence. They are even being to teach people to fear the consequences of speaking out against their leaders.
Swat raids for twitter posts anyone? In 20 years America will not even be recognizable. For F's sake, most teens don't care at all over the amount of control the government has over their lives. They are taught, from the beginning that this is good and right and just!
We saw the writing on the wall years ago though and left America to a free country.
While I agree with you that most people cannot tolerate hipsters, I disagree with your assertion that most people will put up with unlicensed taxi drivers.
I travel all over Europe and Asian as part of job and for personal reasons and I have learned one thing..NEVER take unofficial taxis. EVER.
Oversight and regulation of certain industries are not a bad thing.
Why? Because you are impatient? Are you going to get there faster if you are the first one in your seat?
Beside, it is much harder for a parent to get the kid settled in a full plane. I think you know how much maneuvering room plane how nowadays.
The "truth" is no longer welcome? What a screwed up country.
Fixed that for ya. This doesnt happen in other places, just the "land the free".
