The public really lost its shit when it came out that ordinary drug dealers were being busted with NSA resources and the cops were lying their asses off to the courts.

From the polls I've seen, the public hasn't "lost its shit" yet. The majority is kind of ok with this, which is why it continues.

See also: TSA. Last time I had to go through security, I complained about the inane procedures, and the person behind me said, "yeah, but it's keeping us safe." I ended the conversation there, didn't even try to argue.

It's rare to find an exec (or person, for that matter) who has every skill. Some are good at negotiating, others are good at motivating underlings. Some have 'vision.' One who knows how to lead a manufacturing firm might be clueless in the hotel industry.

This guy's skill seems to have involved getting good contracts through 'soft skills.' His gullibility to this is reminiscent of 419 eaters.....those who scam fall hardest to scams because of their greed.

Are we to get some deep meaning from this spew of faux witticism?

Anyone who is tired of being manipulated into being 'outraged' by people trying to make money will find it wise.

And I also want a pony!

Seriously, as long as we're speculating, can we all please admit that this is finally the breakthrough we need to reach warpgate technology?

And that's ignoring the fact that computer security is nearly intractable to begin with. Even if you have an air-gap, it can still be breached.

So if the companies aren't even trying (which they aren't......increased liability can help with that, though), there's no way they'll succeed.

I hire people all the time and I've had to say no to great candidates who wanted more money than we could pay. I've also turned away applicants who thought they were worth more than they were. Most companies have a budget and they aren't going to exceed it.

That's different......if someone says, "this is my minimum, I refuse to go lower," then there's nothing you can do. But if they're flexible, it's a matter of finding a point where both of you can be happy.

Of course, if they really can make more elsewhere, they should go elsewhere. I've done that.
