Sure it is. You just pick the right parts. You include "works well with Linux" as one of the business requirements when designing the thing.

THAT is not worth $50 per laptop.

I agree. But it's actually more than $50 if you account for the m$ tax that goes with the windows machines. If you assume the win license is $50 (not sure what it irons out to be), then it's actually $100 a box. On top of all that, it's the same spec as the windows version. I bet the machine screams without all the bloatware.

I'm not a facebook user so this is new to me. So you're saying, for the mass majority of facebook users this isn't a subject that crosses their path. This story is for those with large media markets who utilize facebook as part of their business scheme. And so, Cuban leaves a message on his facebook page and only a few people will see it without going to the team page? Otherwise, the rest would have to go to the facebook page on a daily basis to see updates? If a normal person leaves a message on their page, who see's it without going to their page? Their 'friends?' Forgive the ignorance.

System76 is a great suggestion. They even have Applecare. KIDDING. They offer an extended service plan you can get past the default one year (which is more than what Apple gives you). I'd say it beats applecare in pretty much every way other than a lack of retail locations and an arrogantly named 'genius bar.' If you don't mind getting support from linux geeks who know their way around the OS, they're the place to go. If it weren't for the specified support option, I'd say HP is a good place too because they offer linux laptops. I don't trust their support so they're out the window. Also, most linux distros work out of the box with mainstream hardware. The community is a great support tool and you'd learn alot. But if you need a 1-800 number, System76 is the way to go.

4-5 years ago, my friends were always asking me to stop inviting them to facebook, because they were already members. It was funny because I wasn't even a member myself. Yet, somehow they were getting invited by me to join. Cut to a few years later, I joined facebook only because I wanted to see how well integrated it worked with my palm pre. It integrated really well. A few days into my membership, I got an friend request from a college buddy. There was a shadow profile, but I had figured that he hadn't filled his profile out yet. So I accepted. The next day he told me he said f*ck it and joined on my invitation. So, he wasn't a member and hadn't done a friend request. I felt so stupid for falling for it. My acceptance of his friend request generated an invite to join FB from me. I should have known better. Needless to say, I researched how to delete my account. Funny enough, there's still a shadow profile of me naturally. My buddy, on the other hand, lives on the site. I guess he can blame me once he wakes up from his FB daze.
