well now that I'm done with the board project I'm moving onto something else. I've had lots of exp. with XML and C++ and really like Microsofts XML parser. What I want to do is make a Java program that scrolls the current slashdot headlines for me. I know I can get the headlines from slashdot in XML but I want to learn how to implement them in a Java program. As I know very little about GUI java things this will be a bit of an undertaking for me. Once this is done I will be re-writing a program I use at work, this will be done in C++.

Well the board is up and running! I am usign phpBB and mySQL. If anyone gives a shit you can read it here. Nothing too fancy, runs on my PIII 700 box at home. It wouldn't take much to slashdot it. If you fancy go ahead and register and post a hello message on there.

Well here it is Saturday night and I'm at eBay slaving away at the emails in my inbox. I would rather be at home working on the mySQL project I've been doing. Yes folks that's right mySQL, I read slashdot daily and haven't worked on mySQL yet. So rather than wait for work to make me learn it I am getting a head start on my own. I would be earlier along but a computer hard drive crash caused me all sorts of grief. My goal with this project is to create a mySQL database and have some kind of web forum access it. I am a star wars nerd and would love to use it for a kick ass star wars messaging board. So I will work on it whenever I get some spare time inbetween work, school, and family.
