Voice of Meson writes: Remember the recent story on the banning of an Australian award-winning advertisement featuring a toddler driving a car? http://yro.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=07/02/26/01 59210 It looks as it the central argument against the ad might just have been proved valid. http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599,21379700-1243 ,00.html "The car was parked in the driveway near the entrance of the garage and the child has got in and started up the engine." He got it out of park or released the handbrake and it crashed into the mother and pinned her to a wall. As for the original ad and it's detractors "Many of the complaints were from parents concerned that the ad would encourage copycat behaviour in young children and might lead to accidents." It's not yet clear if the child had his arm out the window or if any toddler hitchhikers were involved.
