Submission + - Toddler driver hits mum with family car. Copycat?

Voice of Meson writes: Remember the recent story on the banning of an Australian award-winning advertisement featuring a toddler driving a car? http://yro.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=07/02/26/01 59210 It looks as it the central argument against the ad might just have been proved valid. http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599,21379700-1243 ,00.html "The car was parked in the driveway near the entrance of the garage and the child has got in and started up the engine." He got it out of park or released the handbrake and it crashed into the mother and pinned her to a wall. As for the original ad and it's detractors "Many of the complaints were from parents concerned that the ad would encourage copycat behaviour in young children and might lead to accidents." It's not yet clear if the child had his arm out the window or if any toddler hitchhikers were involved.

Submission + - Last Mac OS X Tiger Update Released?

Alexander Burke writes: "Apple has released what is widely believed to be the last update to Mac OS X before the release of Leopard (10.5) this spring; this update brings Tiger to version 10.4.9.

The 10.4.9 Update is recommended for PowerPC and Intel-based Mac computers currently running Mac OS X Tiger version 10.4.8 and includes general operating system fixes, as well as specific fixes or compatibility updates for the following applications and technologies:
  • RAW camera support
  • Handling of large or malformed images that could cause crashes
  • Image capture performance
  • Mouse scrolling and keyboard shortcuts
  • Font handling
  • Playback quality, and bookmarks in DVD Player
  • USB video conferencing cameras for use with iChat
  • Bluetooth devices
  • Browsing AFP servers
  • Apple USB Modem
  • Windows-created digital certificates
  • Open and Print dialogs in applications that use Rosetta on Intel-based Macs
  • Time zone and daylight saving for 2006 and 2007
  • Security updates
