Journal Journal: (yawn)

Well, I guess it -is- friday now.......

I was all resigned to having a boring uneventful day. At about 8pm, I decided to get -something- done, so I went to Lowe's and bought a unch of plumbing supplies. But I wasn't doing any plumbing. No sir. I was creating the third incarnation of the Heineken Hookah! This one's great, custom molded fixtures, "high-bandwidth" tubing, custom paint, all JB welded together, with recessed 1/4in. jack stem, and two-part design for convenient cleaning. and perfectly airtight. No more wasted lung power!

As I was crafting this fine piece of bonggery, who should walk in but Kris. A day early, took me by surprise! He hung out with me for a bit as I ground down the stem to attach the tubing to it, his brother Brandon popped in for a minute, all good times. And then......Nathan! With, of course, Dynasty Warriors 4. My thumbs will be sore for days after all that videogaming. The hookah is now mostly complete, by the time my lazy ass gets up tomorrow (I'm guessing about 3pm), the paint should be cured, and the seams all set. All that's left then is assembly and testing, both of which should go quick and flawlessly (the don't call me "McGuyver" for nothing!). Should be a hit at the party on saturday....ha ha, get it...."hit"....ugh, I need sleep.......

Journal Journal: Another boring day.....

Today was just a blah day......thursdays can be like that. Woke up pretty late, managed to get my last eBay package in the mail (my Peavey Blazer 158 practice amp--first one I ever had, but now I use it maybe twice a year, might as well get $60 out of it).
Stopped by Value Village, but they didn't have anything enthralling today. I've decided I probably have enough tshirts for the moment, and that's really what the Village is good fr, so I'll probably pare my visits down to once a week or so....
My roommate Barry rented the "Lord of The Rings: The Two Towers" game for the PS2, and has been devoting a good part of hiss free time to it. I'm impressed by it's design and execution, better than I had expected....it's so funny to watch him play, though--he gets -really- pissed when something doesn't work out.......good thing he never tried to 100% Vice City.
I found an excellent website for my 510 project, which I think I'll refer to as the BioDime, not only descriptive but a veiled referance to that cinematic classic, BioDome with the immortal Pauly Shore. The page features, among many biodiesel projects, a Datsun 240z with an LD28 diesel conversion from a Nissan MAxima, apparently it just dropped right in. Exactly what I've been looking for, hope it'll work for the Dime, too.
Speaking of--still need to find one! I had the best deal ever fall through, a 72 2dr with all the bodywork done, primered, with the Subaru LSD, bitchin wheels, 240sx seats, everything. Needed a windshield (done that one before!), some paint, and in my case, the engine swapped out. And only $600! I hope the fscker from Fresno flakes out, I want that goddamn car! The Dime, Quarterly (http://www.dimequarterly.tierranet.com) has classifieds it updates thrice weekly, I'm waiting impatiently for tomorrow's update, as they neglected to do one yesterday. And praying that I'll find my car at long last.

I got the job!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As of Monday, I'll be a UNIX/Linux administration intern for the Gartner Group, making a rediculous $13/hr. Now I know why people drop out of college in this line of work......but don't worry mom!

Speaking of, I talked with her today to give her the news, which she was thrilled to hear. And, she's agreed to, if nessecary, loan me the money to buy the awesome Datsun 510 I've been lusting over. Could things get any better?

I think I'm gonna have a party.

Journal Journal: Song of the day.

Blur - You're so Great

Sad, drunk, and poorly
Sleeping really late
Sad, drunk, and poorly
Not feeling so great
Wandering lost in a town full of frowns
Sad, drunk, and poorly
Dogs digging up the ground
And I feel the light
In the night and in the day
And I feel the light
When the sky's just mud and grey
And I feel the light
When you tell me it's OK
Cos you're so great, and I love you
DT and coffee
Helps to start the day
DT and coffee
Shaking all the way
City's alive and, surprise, so am I
Tea, tea and coffee
Get no sleep today
And I feel the light
In the night and in the day
And I feel the light
When the sky's just mud and grey
And I feel the light
When you tell me it's OK
Cos you're so great, and I love you...

Journal Journal: w00t

Well, after many a story submission, and even some accepted ones that just never showed up, I've got my first front page published story on Slashdot! What an honor. Of course, it's a less-than-maneingful story, but I imagine we'll get some good Slashdot humor out of it. At the very least, it gives me something to write about in today's journal. I was awoken rather rudely by me cell phone this morning at the ass-crack of 11:30, which turned out to be Kris on his way to Seattle. Blew an injector line on his diesel, which means he's getting about 5 mi/gal and sharing his fuel with the length of I-5. Poor guy. That'll teach him to skip out of work on a monday..... After that ordeal, Ii collapsed on my bed again, trying to remember what I was dreaming about (go-karting in the desert with my friend Dylan), when I was roused again by that damn phone. I was going to just yell at Kris to walk when I looked at the Caller I.D. and saw it was from my good friend "Call". I probably met "Call" at a party and forgot who he was.....no, it's actually Sally at ACS Cellular, calling me in for an interview. Not the coolest job ever, but if I whip my spanish skills back into shape, it's 9/hr, and a very short commute. All hinges on whether I get my internship (please!), which hopefully I find out today.......

Journal Journal: Not Appreciating Serendipity.

An amazing thought strck me today at work:

I'm having a great week.

I mean, awesome. And I had no idea. A weird thought, but basically - had you asked me how i was, I'd give my generic "fine" answers. But shit, I'm rockin' this week!

My friend (practically a brother) Matt is here for a week. He lives in Japan. And he's easily the funniest guy I've ever seen. It's -so- awesome to hang out with him.

And this weekend, I'm going to Canada to see Hybrid! Not only drinking, but the greatest electronic music group ever. So sweet. Check out this.

And also see this page on Ninjas. You won't regret it.

Journal Journal: The Local News Sucks 1

Eugene, OR is not a huge town. Sure, 150,000 doesn't make it a small town, either, but we have a dopey small-town mentality. This is way obvious if you watch our local news. It's almost like a sitcom. On TNN. You'd think they'd at least hire anchors who could read....just goes to show, nothing screams "I went to college because my parents were paying for everything but made me learn stuff" like a Communications degree. Just ask Lubchenko.
