Submission + - Skype blames Microsoft Patch Tuesday for Outage (skype.com)

brajesh writes: "Skype has blamed its outage over the last week on Microsoft's Patch Tuesday. FTA — "The abnormally high number of restarts affected Skype's network resources. This caused a flood of log-in requests, which, combined with the lack of peer-to-peer network resources, prompted a chain reaction that had a critical impact." Previsously, it was speculated that Skype outage may have been caused by a Russian hack attempt. Further FTA- "The issue has now been identified explicitly within Skype. Submission + - Size matters. Zooming images by recreating details (reshade.com)

subpicu writes: "New technology has been developed at reshade.com that recreates details when enlarging images. This is the first application of reshading to the field of image processing. The algorithm combines many existing technologies in several fields including artificial intelligence. When enlarging an image the spectrum shifts to lower frequencies leaving out the high-pass part of the image (the sharp details). An adaptive filter is created that considers the full spectrum of texture details. Reshading reconstitutes higher frequencies from the existing cross-spectrum data, introducing highly local correlated novel details that were not part of the original. A comparison of standard technology (Photoshop) and reshading is given at: reshade.com/about"
