How do you know that c is not a local phenomenon?

Maybe this arm of the milky way is a cosmic "No Wake Zone" and maybe that is even what makes the development of life possible.

Wow, we could live in a cosmic "School Zone" and when we graduate from the local cluster we can get back up to speed.

I think I just blew my own mind thinking that.

The other day, I saw some scientist on TV saying that during mission Apollo 11, they installed mirrors on the moon and that he is still using them today by shooting LASER beams at them from the Earth in order to gather data from the reflection (moon distance etc. )

Now some Slashdot reader must have a powerful enough LASER beam around in order to shoot at the moon. Could this good Samaritan please test if those mirrors are really there and report back to us so we can close this case ?

The scientist said that none of the conspiracy theorists ever went to see him so he could show them the beam reflecting on those mirrors. I am wondering how many people are aware of those mirrors on the moon...

I drove out west a few years ago. Took 140 out through southern Oregon. It was just BLACK. No moon, no lights, nothing but starlight.
Once I got up in the mountains a bit I pulled off and just looked at the stars. It was amazing. I must have spent 4 hours out there just looking up.

And then they built that super Wal-Mart 1/4 mile from my house. Now I am lucky if I can see Sirus or anything of a less than amazing magnitude.

Pilot was suicidal, and had been reported many many times before. This was an inspection flight, and one of the reasons it was being filmed was that it was his last chance. This was not Pilot Error, it was pilot idiocy.

Why did it post that anon? Sorry, maybe I am getting a bit long in the tooth. I can still dust off the intellivision console and really enjoy a game of sea battle or utopia and walk away feeling like I really enjoyed it.

No Need to save, or worry about if I am playing enough for to keep my stats fresh. Just play the game, kill some time, and have some fun.

I miss gaming like that. I know it still exists, but it seems few and few between titles.

There are quite a few molds and other items that can cause serious respiratory distress for those of us allergic to them. Fast acting too. When I got off the plane in Australia and was exposed to new pollens I my body had never experienced, I was horizontal on a gurney getting anti-histamine treatments within 30 minutes!

Well, our 2nd most publicized "Sexting" case finished yesterday here in Cincinnati.
In a stunning case of "The guy must be the bad influence" the girl who took the pics was given probation and ordered to write a paper, her friend who sent the pics was not charged, and the guy who RECEIVED the pics was put under house arrest.
All minors, and yes... you read that right.
