Journal Journal: Baffled Pride
My roommate Mat came home this evening with a new tatoo.
It is the street number of our house.
Clearly, this place has made a big difference in his life, and now it will never be left behind, even after the bulldozers come (which they will in about 4 months, to make way for a horking large condo tower). A bigger difference than I had imagined.
I managed to keep the tears from flowing too heavily, makes my eyes hurt and my nose gets all stuffy, do you recall what it's like to have a real impact on someone? And in less than two years, at that. We are doing something right, our little collective grown from necessity...Ky had me try to imagine how wild he'd be without our calming 'geezer' influences for the past two years. (Mat has all the energy of a Labrador puppy, but with opposable thumbs and the attention span of just like that.)
So my heart feels swollen with pride, but i'm baffled - it brings to mind the sig I saw here a few years back, 'never trust a man who has his IP address tatooed on his forarm - expecially if it's DHCP.' The house is going...that makes me sad. I've lived longer here than anywhere, and when we arrived in the previous century we thought it would be for only six months.
