Maybe it would help if we checked my calculations step by step. Start with conservation of energy just inside the chamber walls at equilibrium: power in = power out.

We don't need to check your calculations because you're making a straw-man argument again. You are not refuting what Latour was actually arguing. And either you know that, or you just haven't paying attention. And the latter would be rather bizarre, given the nature of what you have been saying.

Stop making straw-man arguments. You aren't impressing anybody. You're making yourself look like a fool.

Once again, if Dr. Latour understood the second law refers to net heat, he'd agree that adding a cold plate makes the heated plate lose heat slower. That's okay because net heat still flows from hot to cold, i.e. more heat moves from hot to cold than vice versa.

Absolute nonsense. He didn't do that simply because that was not the argument he was refuting. The argument he was refuting was clearly described, discussed, and linked to in his essay.

Jesus, get a clue. This is just more bullshit. I repeat: either you know it's wrong and are just spewing bullshit to make yourself look good (or in an attempt to make me look bad), or you just haven't done your due diligence.

My opinion is that you're just grasping at straws because you were shown to be wrong yet again. But those straws don't really exist. You were just plain wrong.

Wow! The double-down. I didn't (but probably should have) see that coming. So did I summarize your position accurately: You are not a birther. You are certain that someone faked Obama's birth certificate (because you read it on the internet), but you are not willing to speculate who did this or why. You have no idea where the president of the USA was born (hint: Hawaii, USA).

No, I am not certain "because I read it on the Internet". I am certain because I downloaded a copy of it and examined it myself, layer by layer. I did read analyses on the Internet, but I confirmed the truth of some of them myself. Not all of them, of course. Some were just plain bullshit. Like your posts here. But some were true.

Well not quite. The DOJ proposed splitting microsoft in half. Chinas solution to corruption tends to involve ventilating the CEOs brain with lead, 15 minutes after the judge declares "Fuck this guy!".

The only one who seemed to be advocating caping bill G here was probably ESR, because ESR is kind of a mentalist (RMS doesnt do guns)

The Chinese officials, like the US officials, are more interested in kickbacks. All this "anti-monopoly" stuff is meme pap for consumption by voters.

It's the way things have gone through history. Just the wrappers change, to obfuscate it and feign justification. Microsoft learned, and now donates vast sums in US elections.

Sure, pal. Except that even the ancient Pentium 4 was already available at 2.2GHz. In other words, clock speed is pretty much nothing.

And how many cores did it have. Right, now think very slowly as to why when they switched to dual cores, they ran at a slower clock speed. I'll wait for you to figure it out.

Xposed requires root. Why do so many more GNU/Linux devices than Android devices come with root? And how do I get a headphone jack fixed after I have voided the warranty by having installed a rooted ROM?

Using software in wine is not really looking beyond Microsoft.

By that standard, using software in GNU/Linux is not really looking beyond Novell because just as Wine is a free reimplementation of Windows API, GNU/Linux is a free reimplementation of UNIX.

Because Hitler was maniacal and Putin is calculated. Just because Putin is able to read Mein Kampf in the original German, doesn't mean he would buy into it. Yes, Georgia was his Czechoslovakia and Ukraine would be his Austria. But the path to military domination is always a disaster. Putin is too much of a student of History not to realize it. He accumulated too much power too fast. Which means that the people with whom he has to share it (in order to maintain it) have not been people whom he could carefully select and vet. Enough of them have their own ambitions and enough of them are simply power hungry. I am a little disturbed, by the way, that you think that the terrorist organization that the Strelkov is running is not getting enough support. Why would you want Russia to be a terrorist state? What's the point? There is nothing to be gained in a military conquest of Ukraine that could not have been gained by simply opening the borders. The only people who benefit in this military aggression is the top military brass itself. They would reassert their relevance. But Russia itself would obviously lose. On a path to war, the test of a leader is his ability to avoid bloodshed -- not his ability to secure a victory.

Depends on the year, model and a few other things. The one in my car is done by samsung(GM suv). My sisters dodge pickup uses nokia, I know ford used a bunch of companies but it made a huge mess in terms of repairs. So companies seem to be standardizing it.

Problem is, privilege is stereotyped. White males are assumed to be privileged, women and other races are assumed to be victims. Ask 10 slashdotters if white male hiring managers would use race and sex in their ratings of resumes, or if women and non whites would use race and sex in their ratings of resumes, and I'll bet they'll rate the white male highest in using those discriminators.

The reality is that identity politics is building this bias into the culture and legal system under the guise of fighting it everywhere. We are supposed to default to the assumption that white males are privileged and everyone else is not, when it is everyone else who is privileged by the system so long as they lack whiteness and/or maleness.
