That's not really the point... this is a *specific set of known hard to match faces that is used as a measuring stick for Facial Recognition algorithms. The test is checking individual 1:1 compares NOT a 1:N search. Converting a 1:1 algo to 1:N work is a whole 'nother topic. Honestly nothing that they describe in the article is new (normalizing on facial features and fixed resolution images and Vectorizing the image) so hard to see where they made their improvements. My former employer had the best Facial algorithms in the biz up to and including the ability to distinguish identical twins given a high quality image and no data set training required BUT would be interesting to see how their algorithms hold up in comparison.

I have a different best of both... I'm a contractor who is a W2 employee of the consulting company I'm currently contracted through. I'm getting billed out at something like 2-2.5 of what I get paid but I'm still getting paid more like a contractor. Since I am W2 they are also covering my employment taxes just no bennies otherwise (PTO/Health/401K/etc)

When this contract is done there's no guarantee of anything beyond (from me or from them) but it's in their best interest to keep me feeding them money so I'm on the upper hand for next contract. Saves me the trouble of doing sales and in exchange I'm making less but honestly making nice $ so not concerned at the moment.

Commas are such dangerous weapons... All of the deep seeded psychological issues exposed aside, the incest described by your final sentence would be cleanly done away with by removing most of the commas utilized. You could alternatively replace the word 'then' with 2 words 'followed by' or even easier 'and then' to make your intentions clear.

Naw... it's everywhere. When I was going to school in Madison, WI you'd see this nice big ole Escalade drive up and lil street rats would pop out of Mommy and Daddy's car to the "Be home for dinner!" usual then go straight to a comfortable piece of concrete to spend the afternoon begging for change. Not sure which 'real world' you live in but nearly 100% of the people in my sphere know who Monsanto is (whether they are casually aware, blindly reactionary or truly informed about what they do aside). I don't know everyone so my own anecdotal statistics are only worth what they are BUT I'm personally aware of entire classes of people who are intimately aware of Monsanto that amount to WAY more than 1% of the U.S. at least. Numerous foreign governments have banned their products so there is a decent amount of international awareness (or at least fear of the concept/unknown).

Roughly 1% of our country work in the Ag business and I guarantee *all of them are intimately aware of Monsanto and their dealings. (numbers not accounted for above... I don't spend much time in the Agricultural community)

Honestly Monsanto is the food industry's Comcast. They are HUGE and virtually unavoidable in that space. They produce a bunch of probably fine products (I'm FAR from Anti-GMO in my personal sentiments and IF Comcast were my ISP I'd be getting better bandwidth than I am at the moment) BUT they perform their business in the most despicable ways (Which makes it really hard to defend GMO when they are the poster-child.)

Both organizations are severely guilty of criminally Anti-competitive activities yet the U.S. Gov't seems unwilling or able to prosecute. (Add to that list Ticketmaster/Live Nation... how the $%c& did they approve *that merger?!) so it's probably a forgone conclusion that Comcast+TWC will happen eventually if not now.

My girlfriend at the time drove a Geo Prism. *2 people (big) could pick up and move that car... which they did... to a number of increasingly hilarious places :-)

Actually in a way they have... since bringing said pocket knife to school is often an expulsion offense the kids are only learning those skills now at home or in scouts/other program like that. I'm not that old but even when I was a kid we used "dangerous weapons" all the time and leaned how to use them properly in *school (as well as the other listed). The bubble wrapped world we live in doesn't go for that so much.
