Description: Critical flaw in "Where I work Office Suite (tm)" can cause extremely cold conditions to occur because we're multizoned if you can ever call it that. I dont know who is controlling us but our air conditioning is on full blast and it was 45 degrees when I came in this morning. (With an outside ambient temperature of 75).

Resolution: Apply Jvert Hotfix ver 1.0. Take clear scotch tape and 7 sheets of paper, tape each one individualy 2x3 and take the last sheet of paper, scrible some meaningfull words, (always graffiti when possible) like "YAR!" or "SUP?" and tape that in the center of the 2x3 grid. Also open the tile next to the vent in vain hopes of the air circulating back out (See apendix flaw: "cold air rising")

Issues: If you applied the beta hotfix which consisted of pushing the vent up and wedging it open with a cardboard box from a hard drive. There is no uninstall for this cause i'm not getting up there again. These chairs swivel too damn much and i'm dizzy. Also I dont know what the HVAC guy is gonna say when he see's this but I'm pretty sure I wont be in the office tomorow anyways.

Its risen 5 degrees in 5 the minutes since i've applied this patch, your milage my vary.

The wife heard the babys toy play music last night when she went to the bathroom. Its in the babys toy box in front of the fireplace. Its one of those round toys that play music when you spin it or press a button. It was playing the music from spinning the button. When she came out to see what if thats what really was playing she heard that final "goodbye" tune that toys play when kids stop playing. Something confirming she really did hear the toy playing while no one was in the room.

The toybox is a classic toybox, well this one is made from a cardboard box with wallpaper decorating it. The box is filled above the brim with toys spilling over it. In the morning the wife checked the toy to see if what could make it play the music, she couldn't find any logical method but she did say the toy was sitting lower then it was when she saw it playing. Understand, it was lower the next morning then when she saw it playing, so it did not shift during play, but sometime afterwards, assuming our witness is reliable (love you babe!).

So tonight we will set a microphone with a handy program that will record on demand when audible noise is heard. Wish me luck, i'm hoping for a slimer instead of a mouse.

I was in the middle of watching momento. Its a great movie if you havn't seen it. Its a horrible movie if you have seen it. Well no, not really I just like the way that sounds. But I know I like it and I know of other people who dont. So my statement is still true. Ha I love truth vs opinion. Because what i'm writing is true because it cannot change. And opinions change, eventually. Its evolution. When I watch momento I really get into the movie. I mean I feel like I have the same memory loss syndrome when watching it. Not by any means to our main players extent, but when my wife tells me to get the water I get the 2 day old glass because I forgot she brought in a new glass of water. Why did I forget something like that? Am I just letting myself get immersed in the movie? I'm ok with that, hypocondriac can be a fun game if you play with yourself and dont bother anyone with it. Power over emotions is like bending spoons, in my opinion at least. Thats why I like journals. Your going to read this in a very different mindset then I am now. Its like travelling to a different country. If you can express an emotion well enough to describe its color and its taste when they are not really feeling it, then they get a greater understanding of the object because they can see it without being blinded by its power. Look i'm rambling heavily and my typos are based on poor spelling not key switching. I like that and feel I should just keep going if not just to improve my accuracy. But the flow is great. Hey I had a point, that I think I have a problem with my memory. Not a serious one but the movie makes me think, If my memory is really bad then I wouldn't really know, right? Sure people can tell you, and they have told me. May I just need excercises to improve it but I somehow feel its something genetic cause my dads a little crazy. I had a USB flash card that I did my daily backups with. I loved carrying it around because it made me think of the software everytime I felt it rub against my chest. But I seemed to have missplaced it somewhere. I dont think I would lose a PDA, the USB was gifted to me and had questionable value, it wasn't stolen but is based on a relationship that went sour. Not my fault and not anything personal really. Just buisness, and somepeople understand that being good in a buisness means being good at buisness, not just your job. I know this fact but dont understand it.
But if I had a PDA and I could renember that I keep forgetting stuff then I would know to write it down. Takes effort I suppose and thats what stopped me from doing it before. But the USB chip meant a lot to me because it made me think, all the time. Like my ring, I touch it and just know my relationship with my wife is like the fingers on my hand, it is not a part of me. We are me, as are we. So if I get a PDA with the full intention and understanding that I absolutly must write everything down. And nightly or maybe weekly go over my notes and organize them. I think I need to keep a place for my peronsal thoughts too but I dont know if I would ever read them. Thats why I like it here because I dont have to read them yet it doesn't feel silly to write it and throw it away. So maybe if I become my personal pen pal, use my gmail account. Maybe in a couple hundred years they will be ressurected and my grandchildren will have something interesting to read. I know I'd love to read journals of my great grandfather. I have no idea what kind of person he was. So if I had a PDA that was born to me for the sole purpose of dealing with my memory problem. Maybe I would renember how serious my problem is and not question what I should write down. The hard part will just be organizing the thoughts afterwards but I think that will create some obvious benefits once I get around to it and I know that I am being productive. See thats the problem I'm getting older but dont really see productivity in my work. I think this issue is whats holding me back and will really try to handle it. I can start with my laptop, its a tablet you see so I can use it like a PDA if i'm mindfull of my battery life. Which reminds me, I can't find my digitizer for it. Which is starting to make me worry. You know.

A cold reality. Its late and when its late I get to thinking. Why is the easiest way to end world hungry? The solution I have come to is inspired by the BLM, Bureau of Land Management. They run a very successfull mustang program to thin out overpopulated areas where horses are starving to death from overpopulation. You probably see where im going with this.

Slavery.

Technology has imporved the standard of living high enough that the moral implications of slavery are not what they used to be.

But I know morally its still wrong and could never be the solution to the problem.

By why? is freedom the issue? I know these people would not like to be ripped from their homes. Even faceing death by starvation some, maybe most would rather not go into a life of slavery. Thus to rescue them would be to take away their freedom. Maybe there are better methods today of control, or maybe it will still require physical beatings for submision.

The rights lost by a man in indentured servitude are the same rights we give up today to exist in a civilized socioty. They are dwarf eachother in scale but are still relative.

First the apples:
a) A man, pulled from his home, stripped of his religious beliefs and culture. Is dragged into a life of slavery never owning or acumilating anything of his own. He lives a long and boring life, working every day untill he dies.

b) A man died today of starvation.

Now the oranges:
a) A man was given a ticket for not wearing a seatbelt. When asked about his civil liberties he was told that seat belts are whats best for everybody including himself, and should expect to use the seat belt or else he will lose his privelage to drive on public roads.

b) A man died in a car crash, the impact was not tremendous but he was ejected from his car. Police say the incident may have not been fatal if the man wore his seat belt. No ticket was issued for the infraction.

I'm not trying to glorify slavery but honestly it wont be that bad if it happened today. The nike corporation would create huge complexes to house the slaves. The humanitations would purchase the slaves and set them free in a resource rich environment where they could flourish. There will always be a fraction of slavery but they would be neccessary to consistantly cure the continuing mass of starved humans.

I've found it very difficult to modivate myself to do some heads down work. Maybe its the people that call in for support and the list of things that I have to do that are piling up. They arn't super high priority stuff though so I can't really take the time to get it off my plate but it bothers me knowing how much there is to do. Maybe its because my pregnant sister in law has been living with us the past 6 months. She gave birth yesterday and will be getting her ass up to alaska via plane next month. I think this peridontitis is stressing me out, i'm not sure I would have to think about it to be sure. But I'm damn sure thinking about it stressess me out. Man I need a vacation. Vegas... Rio bufffet with sushi and lobster. Oh I could almost just leave tonight...

But one thing i've been determined this week is to buy another monitor. I had dual screens before I had my office but I gave up a display as I moved from a laptop. I'm going to buy one for work but I have a 15" smart display at home that came from work, so I have no problem footing the bill to go dual screen. I could do it now, we have another 15" lcd around here, I just need to swap a video card with one I have at home (another work provided system, dont ever let me complain about my job, we are a small company, the size of a white picket fence family and as loving as newlyweds) but the monitor is not the best quality and creating graphics matter as much as writing right now. does anyone know if Fry's has the same products & prices as outpost.com does? I know they stated they did not earlier but I can't find that anymore.

I'm probably going to get the 21 because of the flexibility of resolutions, jumping down to 800x600 to match the displays i'm working on and being able to see any flaws on such a large screen sounds enticing. But I have this 17" CRT that I could conceivably do that with now.

Dot pitch is better on the CRT as well. But what does that mean? Does it imply more pixels per square inch? If so does the monitor have a higher pixel count then the LCD? I'm assuming the CRT has exactly 1280x1024 pixels avalable just like the LCD because thats the optimal resolution listed for the CRT... It doesn't really have 1600x1200 pixels does it? Am I way off in comparing my apple to orange comparison? I renember the day when all you had to worry about was getting a de-interlaced monitor (or was that interlaced?)

Also any ideas one how to actually shop for a monitor? All stores that I know of split their signal across a rack of monitors if they are plugged in at all. "Oww I like the degridation on this screen! lets get this one!" I can't belive manufacturers let them get away with it.

Pirates of the caribean.

Bethesda, how on earth can you be making games for well over 10 years now and still write buggy software? WHY? What on earth can be holding you back? I first met you through daggerfall, the bugs were noticable but rarely caused me to restart my character (my friend had to once, but not me). I recently returned to your line of products with morrowind. A vast recreation of daggerfall with better graphics. The bugs seems even more noticeable now especially because I was playing on xbox so it was a very unpatched play. Now comes pirates of the caribean. I try to justify, you went to great lengths making morrowind very easy to modify, you made an expansion set which gives you alot of time to work on the game to flush more bugs out. So the next game based on that engine should be pretty stable, no? NO?
I know you guys spend as much manhours testing these game as you do making them. But spending 1/2 (yes, in all seriousness HALF) of my time working around bugs is completly unacceptable.

Tonight I was escorting Tobias out of the tavern, we were supposed to hide out in the shipyard, I've done this once before. Toby looks a little sick this time, in the Tavern he is slowly walking into the wall. I try to talk to him but he just turns away from me. When we go out of the tavern the spaniards begin chasing us. This is where we run. ahem. "TOBY, THIS IS WHERE WE RUN!". Toby just stands there, I push him down the stairs and he begins to slowly walk. I try this a few times but toby wont even walk around the guards as I fend them off. Toby is fucking gimped. Reload an earlier savegame and travel across the fucking ocean again praying he isn't retarded in this dimension as well. Tobias seems fine now and we make it to the shipyard intact.

I get a little tired of the pedley jobs the mayor gives me so I decide to strike it out being a merchant. Things are going well when I realize I have some pricey goods that are illegal to sell on this island. This should be a good thing. I talk to a man at the bar about offloading some goods, he says he will meet me at the other side of the island. We meet there and decide on a price, (10 times the actual value on other islands). We make our exchange and I turn around and stop where I will no longer be moved by a silly controller. Yea I just sit there. I can move the camera around but no amount of buttong pushing fingergrabbing roller rocking throwing the controller on the floor will make me move again. Troubleshooting, maybe its because the goods were spread across different ships, no; maybe if I talk to a different guy, no; maybe having my first mate with me causes the glitch? yes. Need I mention the first mate was my lucky charm for commerce and the value of my goods was suddenly 10% less of value to the smugglers then when he is around.

Now, I've gotten some good money, half from that smuggling job and the rest from honest trading. Lets to hunt some pirates. Going well, I've upgraded a couple of my ships with some ex black flaggers who deemed me more worthy of their vessel. I decide to try my luck fighting against the spaniards, we are not at war with them like the days back in the tavern but they still seem to quarrel with my allies. I will simply drop in on some of those quarrels and refferee some ships to my coffer. Now i'm not agro to these ships untill I fire upon them, so my strategy has been to get up close, fire, and instantly board. My melee combat skills are world known so taking the ship at that point isn't difficult. But of course this time... when I see the biggest ship of all, my mouth drooling, I line up, take my shot, pause for the boarding scene (when this happens I always sit up and get ready to get a cheap shot off with my pistol) after the loading screen is gone what do I see but the horizon with nothing around it. I am floating in the air. Victory is not ours. That fucking sucked.

I have come to a decision that we need to focus on moving our internet into outer space. The communication infrastrucure is flawed. First it was phoneline and coax, then its fiber. Next decade its... well its something different I can tell you that. Creating a wireless mesh is still too difficult because you can still have dead spots. No my friends, we need to move to space. Sattelite is innapropriatly slow because of so many round trips, but if we eliminate the middleman which is what I like to call "interearthnet".

This will adversly affect our latency issues with china though...
