I wouldn't agree with that. A lot of the low numbered Slashdot members have been here since the 90's, and have probably seen their share of failed tech startups.

Have you had the misfortune of using the latest version of Kaspersky's security suite? The runtime scanner slows down your PC so much that even Symantec and McAfee's products look better by comparison.

I've found that Reddit's forums in general are moderated quite horribly. It seems that almost everyone there seem to think that the downvote option is meant to be used as the "I disagree with your opinion" button, even though they clearly post that it's not for that purpose.

You end up with a system where everyone who agrees with the groupthink of that particular forum gets rated highly, and any differing opinions get silenced. Basically, it's what would happen to Slashdot if they gave everyone Moderator points including the troll accounts.

Yep. "Real" 4G was supposed to provide mobile download speeds up to 100 Mb/sec, and none of the US cellular providers have come close to actually providing that speed.

Dell still sells a bunch of them. Even the ones who put 8.1 on there by default offer downgrade rights to 7. That's fine with IT folks, since they usually reimage the systems before then hand them out to users.

Seriously, who puts Windows 8.1 on a business workstation?!? I don't know of any businesses in my area who've "upgraded" from Windows 7 to 8 or 8.1, because they don't want to retrain their employees on how to use Windows. We're all waiting for Windows 10, where Microsoft finally came to their senses and made using that horrible Start screen and Charms Bar optional.

I'll bet that garbage collection could eventually be done by a self driving truck with an automated garbage can lift.

A lot of cashier jobs are already getting replaced with self check-out systems as well.

I'm thinking that politics is a pretty safe field to get into, since those jobs are geofenced by law. I'll bet that Dentistry is a pretty safe field as well.

XP only supported IE6 through IE8. That's kind of weak considering that it was supported by Microsoft for over a decade.

They make an add on connector called a Snuglet that fixes the issue with the Magsafe 2 port being too loose.

For a consumer electronics product? That's pretty damn good. Most tablets and smartphones seem to get updated yearly, and the old model disappears once the stock runs out.
