Happy Thanksgiving folks!
As an Australian living in the US I must say it's a fun tradition... I'll be having a quiet dinner at home with my girlfriend.
Turkey's in, hoping everything will be ready by 6-7 tonight.
Photos later!
Yep - I've got five of 'em.
Link me to good comments deserving an upmod... that, or Ann Coulter-ish people for me to mod down.
ceejayoz writes "The Salt Lake Tribune reports that SCO execs have hired bodyguards after death threats were sent via telephone and e-mail. 'I just don't buy it,' said Bruce Perens, a Berkeley, Calif.-based Linux developer and open source advocate. 'This is just an effort to discredit the open-source community.'"
Update: Rejected.
Does anyone else agree that knowledge of the Constitution should be a requirement for lots of things in this country?
A treaty is simply an agreement between nations. It has no bearing on US law. If Congress wants to abide by a treaty it agrees to then it would have to pass laws that implement the provisions of the treaty. I don't know of any US laws that concern citizen's property rights in space. The treaty itself has no weight in a US court.
Someone hasn't read Article VI...
This Constitution, and the laws of the United States which shall be made in pursuance thereof; and all treaties made, or which shall be made, under the authority of the United States, shall be the supreme law of the land; and the judges in every state shall be bound thereby, anything in the Constitution or laws of any State to the contrary notwithstanding.
I figured out the problem with Mozilla Firebird 0.7.
I'm using the "Breeze" theme, and something must have changed in 0.7 with the scrollbars and the options dialog - downloading the 0.7 version of Breeze fixed it.
So, if anyone else is having the same problem, well, that's how to fix it.
Slate.com is running an interesting article on what anti-choice politicans have dubbed "partial birth" abortions.
Just downloaded Mozilla Firebird 0.7 onto my laptop, and now...
a) no scroll bar - have to use arrow keys / Page Up/Down
b) the options screen has very faint gray lettering on white background in the sidebar
Anyone else having problems?
"Bush told his senior aides Tuesday that he "didn't want to see any stories" quoting unnamed administration officials in the media anymore, and that if he did, there would be consequences, said a senior administration official who asked that his name not be used."
[Microsoft] stole QDOS for $50000
I steal my apartment for $450 a month!
I stole some groceries today, too... what else shall I steal?
Slashdot's been nearly unusable all day for me, and from browsing your journals, it would appear that it's happening to everyone...
What on earth could they have done to make it suck this much, and why didn't they just rollback the code for a while?
If I did this on a production site, they'd have my head.
In a debate here in the Slashdot journals about a week ago, I was attempting to find articles on moderate Islamic clerics. While I wasn't able to find the article I'd been looking for, I just found this new one.
He's the grandson of the Ayatollah Khomeni, and he advocates the US invasion and liberation of Iran, is against executions (on the grounds that no imam is infallible).
Frankly, he sounds like a very reasonable kind of person the US should be working with to promote their ideals and goals in the region.
An authority is a person who can tell you more about something than you really care to know.
