Competition is good but if this heats up any more it could come to blows. Maybe a hostile takeover involving assault rifles. It's been done.
Funny, I remember web browsing and listening to mp3s on my 68040 40mhz Amiga 3000 just fine. But then it was actually designed for multitasking. When I moved to linux in 1999 it was because mainstream intel hardware was just too much more powerful. Because I was used to flawless multitasking at the time linux was the only available choice that made sense. In the decade and a half since that time I've seen great strides in linux usability but lately it seems like there are a lot of backward steps being taken. I guess it will work itself out down the road, it always has before.
I thought the whole point was that SystemD was doing too much as it was. The main objection I have heard is that it has intruded into so many places it is not needed or wanted.
That answer is unacceptable. They must choose science and technology. We must force them to choose because we have these quotas that must be filled.
"Death Squad" is a term used to describe a group of people who are sent with the express purpose of using extreme violence to kill people. They would not be there to arrest people but to perform extrajudicial killings. While SWAT teams are armored and weaponed up they are supposed to, and almost always do, use only the force necessary to subdue and arrest criminals. That said, I wouldn't try pointing a gun at them. I can cherry pick the news for incidents gone wrong but overall they do a great job. Unfortunately when they do make mistakes it's tragic and newsworthy.
Exactly! I've seen way too many "2 steps back" releases lately. Better to take your time than to screw everything up like Ubuntu did a few years ago. Features for the sake of features is worse than useless. Lets have stability and usability before all else.
Police death squads? Really? I know there are some bad cops, more than a few, but ease off on the sensationalism.
I find that if I don't use my phone the battery lasts for days. Whatever happened to those fuel cells that used lighter fluid to power laptops? That's what we need for smartphones. Zippo batteries.
Schools basically give away old windows machines. Now that they remove hard drives they're almost totally worthless. I think they bring more as scrap.
I don't understand rampant paranoia either. I admit there are problems in the administration of some of the intelligence agencies but to take that and then start demonizing math researchers for working with agencies charged with the defense of our country is a crazy leap.
It seems like now that actual violent crime is dropping we have to invent new problems. It's like a solution in search of a problem.
It's obviously society's fault that girls don't want to program. There couldn't possibly be any other reason for this lack of interest.
iPads are just tools. They aren't magic. I've seen some interesting and innovative uses of iPads in education, particularly with kids with special needs. First though you have to have people who know how to use these tools and implement them into an overall educational program. Buying a bunch of anything without a plan makes no sense. This is what's special about the Rpi. They are primarily into teaching and building a community around this educational system. The maker aspect of the Rpi is just a big plus that helps build the community.
This sure sounds like an April Fool's day joke.
