Comment you sir, have acted the damn fool (Score 1, Flamebait) 267

What the hell were you charged with that your legal bills totaled up to six figures?
he would have likely told you if it was meant to be any of your business. to be blunt, perhaps something serious. not an 8000 issue, in other words. (mea culpa, assumption)

i'd recommend you charge up to someone with a "what criminal charge were you charged with?@!" and see whay that gets ya in Real Life. Results may vary.

what did you get charged with anyway, and when? felonious ass-hattery on both sides of your mothers basement door?

Don't trash the whole profession just because you hired a lousy legal team.
he didn't.

innocent until proven guilty takes on non subtle shades of new meaning when the six figures (yeah, i was there once. no, its not your fucking business why exactly.) pile up in the middle of that statement.

as a courtesy to your need to be authoritative on something, a spelling error has been inserted for you to find and correct, have a nice day son.

the hillside i live on with a single 3G enabled tower near it has better coverage than most of the world. cities. countries.

and a remote mountain? that's actually a very specific mountain, out of the many 'remote mountains' in the world.

Comment 3G w googleVoice, why skype over gVoice? (Score 1) 286

well, as skype JUST came out with this for android, in my mind (having an android set, waited for skype and using gVoice)

the obvious comparison is to gVoice.

3G is disabled? F them.

they're hobblers. hobbled it for verizon, should have had the snot slapped out of them for even cooperating with the vzw use minutes for voip! solution.

up theirs. and now,. more of the same for other carriers too. wheeeeeeeeeeee.

3G works fine for my gvoice.

2.1+ android required? maybe for video calling, but i remember making video calls w fring on a 1.6 handset. why require newest vers for a voIP client? seems fine once you extrapolate it out 6+months to when the userbase grows on 2.1+ versions, but now...kinda sucks after waiting so long.

they've pretty much been tarding this android process along, and tarded it right to completion

why skype and not gVoice? i've settled into gVoice for business/personal simplification and cheap calls quite nicely.

anyone?

India Pale Ale was brewed in a different manner so as to survive the long and sub-optimal shipping method that was a ship sailing to brit colonized India. When a style (IPA) with much more alcohol content (Alcohol by Volume, ABV) shipped, it survived much better. Tasty, too. And ABV from 7-9% is common in IPAs, some being 12 and higherish. Doctor Slams Hospital's "Please" Policy 572

Administrators at England's Worthing Hospital are insisting that doctors say the magic word when writing orders for blood tests on weekends. If a doctor refuses to write "please" on the order, the test will be refused. From the article: "However, a doctor at the hospital said on condition of anonymity that he sees the policy as a money-saving measure that could prove dangerous for patients. 'I was shocked to come in on Sunday and find none of my bloods had been done from the night before because I'd not written "please,"' the doctor said. 'I had no results to guide treatment of patients. Myself and a senior nurse had to take the bloods ourselves, which added hours to our 12-hour shifts. This system puts patients' lives at risk. Doctors are wasting time doing the job of the technicians.'"

EVE Online Battle Breaks Records (And Servers) 308

captainktainer writes "In one of the largest tests of EVE Online's new player sovereignty system in the Dominion expansion pack, a fleet of ships attempting to retake a lost star system was effectively annihilated amidst controversy. Defenders IT Alliance, a coalition succeeding the infamous Band of Brothers alliance (whose disbanding was covered in a previous story), effectively annihilated the enemy fleet, destroying thousands of dollars' worth of in-game assets. A representative of the alliance claimed to have destroyed a minimum of four, possibly five or more of the game's most expensive and powerful ship class, known as Titans. Both official and unofficial forums are filled with debate about whether the one-sided battle was due to difference in player skill or the well-known network failures after the release of the expansion. One of the attackers, a member of the GoonSwarm alliance, claims that because of bad coding, 'Only 5% of [the attackers] loaded,' meaning that lag prevented the attackers from using their ships, even as the defenders were able to destroy those ships unopposed. Even members of the victorious IT Alliance expressed disappointment at the outcome of the battle. CCP, EVE Online's publisher, has recently acknowledged poor network performance, especially in the advertised 'large fleet battles' that Dominion was supposed to encourage, and has asked players to help them stress test their code on Tuesday. Despite the admitted network failure, leaders of the attacking force do not expect CCP to replace lost ships, claiming that it was their own fault for not accounting for server failures. The incident raises questions about CCP's ability to cope with the increased network use associated with their rapid growth in subscriptions."

An anonymous reader writes "The open source FPS Blood Frontier has now made their beta2 release. From the article: 'After many months of development, and massive amounts of input from the public, we are proud to present you with the new release of Blood Frontier, v0.85 (Beta 2). This new version totally redefines and improves the game in many ways, creating a whole new style that makes it almost nothing like its predecessor.'"
