This is NOT true. I manually install updates on my machine because I do not like anything being installed without my knowledge. This morning, I woke up and opened up MBP. Next thing I know, I noticed a Tray Notification informing me that a Security Update has been installed. I only had one option, which was to close the notification. I was mildly irritated by this without a doubt.

You are correct. The slashdot effect would be great, but no one cares about the opinions of the common folk. We already saw that with the Net Neutrality debate on the FCC comments debacle. In the end, if you are not greasing Tom Wheeler's cock, he will not be very nice when he gives you the rim job.

I am pretty sure you are wrong! Apple and Google are working on a Chip'n Brain gadget that will allow you to just think about that purchase, and it will be delivered right to your door. Why do you think Amazon, UPS and Dominos are working so hard to get drones perfected. The Manufacturers and Retailers Ass. wants you to know that they want almost no time wasted between the time you think about a product and the time you get the product. This way, there is typically no chance of you changing your mind!

I am willing to bet that, EVEN THOUGH your facts are presented very well, and make a whole lot of sense, atleast two things will happen
1) Many people who signup after CurrentC initial rollout, either don't understand or don't care or both.
2) Retailers will "sweeten" the deal of signup with 10% off or 90% off, and all sorts of money back or cash back or discount type deals to where, these same people will care even less
3) What is worse in my opinion is that many people who understand such intricacies as you have mentioned, will also cave in, or just give up at some point for these sweet deals We see this type of mob mentality in almost every thing happening around us.
Oh, don't get me wrong. There will be a few people who will be 100% opposed to this with every fiber of their being, but that mob will be very small and will not have enough power to sway popular opinion, and will eventually be driven to fringes of society.

I am an atheist, and I was not a Christian to being with. However, after watching the debate just yesterday, I would say that the "arguments" presented by Ham were far more convincing that what Nye put together, and it felt sad. I liked Bill Nye in this other debates on such topics, but he did not bring his "A game" to this debate. There were so many points of view about why a particular scientific theory was more conclusive, or why certain theories fail, but have yet to be to be proven to be as much of a fallacy as "God did it" that Nye could have presented, but he didn't. Even his 30 minute presentation round was lacking in general. This is what allowed even more religious zealots to put even more money into making this all possible, IMO.

I should also add that I will not be purchasing another Mac after my current 2011 17 inch dies. I like the fact that I upgraded my Mac to the fullest extent possible. Just something I cannot do anymore with the newer models, and the fact that there are no more 17 inch models, makes me a little bit angry that folks like me are completely being ignored. I am also the one voice in the thousands saying that I hate the "flat" look and the god awful colors of Yosemite, and will NOT be upgrading. I will stay with Mavericks on the 17 inch model as long as possible, and move on to who knows what next. :(

This is simply not true. I have downgraded several times. I unfortunately did NOT backup my system before performing an upgrade to the first Beta of Yosemite. It worked fine for a days, but I noticed some oddities, and then I saw that my system started to crash more often. Since I didn't have a backup, I put in the for Snow Leopard, and away it went. It installed fine (though it took a couple of extra steps, since the Recovery partition Yosemite creates is not compatible and had to wipe that first). I then had to upgrade from Snow Leopard to Mavericks from the Apple Store. I had a similar problem on the version before Lion (had a backup that time), and was able to simply restore the backup and was up and running in very short order (two hours tops). I was a very heavy Windows user for more than 10 years, but now that I have switched to OS X, I will never go back. I will admit that the Hidden Files thing and the Home / End / Page Up / Page Down still drives me nuts, 4 years after I started using it. I understand that you can press Cmd + Whatever, but I would rather it had been a single key. The rest of the OS is great. I have two UI developers sitting across from me at work, and they use their Macs to the fullest extent possible and Retina display with the trillions of colors and subtlety makes all the difference, but to me it has been a great experience.

What this actually means is that, the companies have already worked out some kind of scheme to funnel money out of Ireland, and there are very few reasons Ireland needs to be keep this around, since it is causing so many ordinary people a lot of indigestion. Who wants to bet that Google, Apple, etc don't even use Ireland to funnel money and avoid taxes?
