I'm not Joe Mechanic or anything like that, but I know enough to change my air, fuel & oil filters, add fluids, etc. I've even done tune-ups on my older cars, but what about the real grease monkeys who can fix anything on a vehicle? Wouldn't this type of law put the Auto-Zones, Napas & the like out of business? I don't know where they get the majority of their sales, but I know a sizeable amount has to come from home car repair/tuning enthusiasts.

I called Makerbot to get an education price quote on a printer & materials to compare with other 3D printer manufacturers. I had to call back 4 times before the guy actually sent me a quote, and all I wanted was a printer & 10 spools of filament. He was supposed to send me some sample prints as well, and never did. Needless to say, Makerbot lost any consideration for what is going to be our first of several purchases.

Under capitalism, the people with the money have LOTS of choices. The vast majority of us, not so many choices.

The fact that some people have more choices doesn't mean that you have less. It's not a zero-sum game. Why only complain about rich people?Smart people have more choices. Beautiful people have more choices. Fast people have more choices. Healthy people have more choices. Strong people have more choices.

You probably have more choices than you realize, but your own mentality is partly what's holding you back. Nothing is stopping you with coming up with an idea, starting up a business, working hard to make it successful, and limiting your pay so you can pay your employees more.

Socialism forces them to do it. Liberals don't really understand the importance of this distinction.

Oh, we understand perfectly.

That's what's wrong with 'Murica today, too much socialism. We need to nip this kind of thinking in the bud! When will the working class realize that they only benefit when their betters are allowed to run things as they see fit, unrestricted by regulations and burdensome tax laws?

I realize you're trolling, but there's nothing about capitalism that prohibits benevolence. This seems to be a very confusing point for many people.

The owner decided to do this of his own free will, regardless of what his motive was. That's the point of freedom. You're allowed to choose. Under socialism, your choices are far more limited. As with most forms of collectivism, either things are mandatory or they're prohibited.

Why not all of the above? He's generating buzz for his company, one which I've never heard of before. His employees will probably be happier, and he's probably getting stock options or something else we don't know about here, so that fits both the good business practice AND enlightened self-interest. It could turn out to be "silly boosterism" if it doesn't end up having any of those effects, but you won't know that immediately...

The way the whole campus rape thing is handled seems idiotic to me. Why is sexual assault an issue for colleges or universities to handle? IMHO, it should be a police matter. If a student reports that they were sexually assaulted to a college or university, the college or university should have to report it to the local authorities, instead of being handled internally.

The most common reason I hear for not doing this is that the victim doesn't want their assailant to go to prison. Why? So they can continue raping other people? Chances are the victim isn't the rapists first victim, or if they were, they won't be the last. Suspending a rapist from school or making them transfer does not protect other people.

The other problem I have with having colleges or universities handle this problem is that I've heard of several instances where there wasn't due diligence in fact finding, and there was a presumption of guilt against the alleged assailant. Let the justice system handle what the justice system was created for. Colleges & universities should stick to educating people and doing research, not adjudicating serious crimes.

I applaud him. He's protesting what is the #1 problem in government today in a peaceful way that was sure to make headlines. The problem isn't people like him, the problem is people who are apathetic about the issue in the first place.

Campaign finance is NOT the #1 problem in government today. It's a symptom of the real disease, which is the fact that government has enough power that makes politicians worth being "financed" in the first place. Reduce the government's ability to hand out corporate welfare & pick who gets to be the winners & losers in the marketplace, and you'd see a lot less money in politics.
