I have switched to low sugar, low carb, and started working out five times a week, two days of lifting, three days of cardio with running 5K or more on the weekends and managed to lose 40 lbs in 8 weeks. That's over 15% of my body mass.

While the level of insanity that I endured for this is a bit much, I can attest to the fact that the amount of crap we add in American diets is excessive to the point of "we need to stop hurting ourselves"

The biggest guidelines that I have for myself is if it's designed to sit on a shelf for a long time, it's not designed to be consumed and carbs are great, only if you have a plan to burn them off.

I don't think people understand how complicated the matter of gender stereotypes are as far as roles in our society. This begins as early as birth. Parents immediately give their child a pink or a blue cap depending on whether or not it's a boy or a girl. While the child is too young to understand this, they will look back on that picture and understand later in life. The point that is more important is that because how we treat each gender in society and until we learn to break ourselves of this, we will continue to shape our society as such.

Now, my problem is I don't mind these roles so much and in fact, as a guy, a girl in a dress for a particular event is always welcome and sometimes preferred. But I try and not be judgmental as far as what a female can accomplish. Ada Lovelace, Grace Hopper, and Hedy Lemarr reshaped the world for Information Systems. Because of this, I know not only can the opposite sex program, but they can leave a lasting impact just as much if not more than their male counterparts.

Highly evolved animals such as humans have a pretty impressive track record when it comes to seeing into the future. The problem does exist that some if not all of us have evolved enough to plan adequately into the long term. Like playing a game of chess, generally the player who can see his opponent's moves and strategies the furthest into the future is the victor. Yet, not everyone is a chess master and thinks that far ahead.

I don't know the stances of Lincoln on other issues, but trying to push the metric system is a great start and bound to fix the economy as soon as people can figure out how to measure things. Why can't one of the main stream candidates get this?

I don't even want to know who cheated on who in Chile in 2003, Indonesia in 2005, or Japan in 2011.

If they were doing nothing wrong, they shouldn't have had anything to hide. At least, that's how we are told to treat citizens of this country, right? Why shouldn't the government abide by the same rules that it expects its citizens to abide by?

You should research history. If you did, you would find out that a lot of these people in power now are either Vietnam vets or hippies from the same era. The Vietnam youth were far more radical and active than the counter-culture that exists in the youth today. Many of these people managed to get old and get into politics or become politically active, but seemed to lose that train of thought of peace, love, and freedom. Apparently as you get old, you get senile and go into this phase of trusting the government to do what is right. This is a sad thing really.

Only the highly intelligent people can think that for forward as well as that far backward. Others seem to whitewash their history and remember everything as the "Good Ole Days."

We are a foolish nation of consumers who can't seem to think past tomorrow. I can't wait for the economic collapse that follows.

People are going to lock themselves into large vehicles again, and when the prices adjust accordingly, they won't be able to pay their bills and we will see 2008/2009 all over again on a smaller scale. Please oh please, let people not be shocked by this. I know I won't be.

This is exactly right. I was going to dumb it down to, "If you're not for us, you're against us" mentality. You can only provide secure communications or insecure communications. Any backdoor given to outsiders automatically becomes insecure communications. This includes law enforcement of any kind at any level.

Last I checked, Intel had a fabrication plant and an assembly plant in China. Perhaps they don't actually assemble or fabricate Xeons there, but way to not think things all the way through there Intel.

Even in IT, I have a backup of all email files, and daily backups. Sadly, if I leave, we will have issues. I do control the backups, but so much data has been moved to tape that recovery is possible, even after a lengthy period of time.

User accounts are expected to expire when they expire and there are secondary administrator accounts that set off any IPS flags if they are used. Key administrative accounts are to be controlled anyway and unless you are talking about senior IT, they should have full access anyway.

Mostly this is the same commonsense that you should expect with any user.

I hate to throw conspiracy theory out there, but if the Pilot had made intentions to do dastardly deeds with the plane, perhaps this was a co-pilot trying to save lives at the sacrifice of 150. While I know this is unlikely, but there is the potential for this to be a thing.

Still, the Co-pilot would have probably said something on the flight recorder, so who really knows. Odds are in the favor that the co-pilot was an undiscovered nutter.
