If they are so concerned about not being shot that they are willing to violate people's rights, why become police in the first place?

I'm doing an embedded project using the B+. The main reason why I like the B+ is that I'm using all the new GPIO pins from that model. The A+ has the same GPIO pins which is awesome on a lower price device.

Why do we have to assume we can't make any changes to the nature of traffic lights to make them more easily machine readable? Since it requires a car with a lot of cameras to maintain the road information accurate enough for the self driving car, why would lots of cars with fewer cameras do an equally good job? For things like potholes, we can't self driving cars report information about how smooth a particular path along the road is so that pot holes are mapped?

Another good way to get ticketed is to drive a car with identifiers that you are from a different part of the country. After moving to Washington State, my ex-wife got pulled over and ticketed twice for bullshit because she had dealer logos on her car from where she bought it in Houston, Texas. Both times she was asked when she was returning to Houston and how long it had been since she had been to Houston. The car itself had Washington plates.

What is so wrong with a project failing? I really don't get it. This is a site to donate money for people to do a cool project. If none of the projects are allowed to fail, it would only be really conservative projects. If you aren't willing to take that risk, don't fund a kickstarter. It is not a shopping site.

The questions raised in the advertising are pretty good ones. If the city bungles the fibre network and loses a lot of money, you'll be forced to pay for it in taxes. If Comcast fucks up and their costs go out of control, you at least have a choice to opt out. As much as I don't like Comcast and AT&T, I have no faith in government to be an ISP.

I think that Ballmer is a decent operations guy, but obviously not a tech visionary, nor does he have good taste and an iron fist the way Steve Jobs did. I think that Microsoft was in a very strong position when he took over and that it just isn't that hard to keep Microsoft on its current glide path given a halfway decent operations guy in charge. John Sculley, who is widely viewed to have run Apple into the ground, could almost certainly done just as good of a job running Microsoft as Steve Ballmer. I realize this is speculation, but I think its true.
