I'm out of mod points but how is this a Troll? It's taking an oversimplified view of things perhaps and is certainly vitriolic and provocative in its use of the term "whore", but it's also providing a lot of insight into the discussion and it's an opinion that needed expressing. I'm sure it made very uncomfortable reading for those that do or have cheated - but that's not a valid reason for modding a post down guys / gals! I personally think cheating is not excusable. If someone lets it happen then they are placing a low value on their existing relationship and largely invalidating the trust and commitment (often, though not always, irreperably) that was supposed to exist there. If it didn't exist, there was something seriously wrong with the relationship to begin with which I think is what the AC is getting at here.

Why ditch the best Windows version ever? Should have kept it alive with service packs. The UI thing, dialogs, cursors, menus, layouts, fonts... keep it intact.

Yeah and Find Files named X containing Y was a breeze and actually worked. I wish they'd put that interface back in Windows 7. I swear I've performed searches where it fails to find any results and I know files exist containing the search string, even though it's set to look everywhere. I end up resorting to findstr. I can't believe they thought it was a good idea to cripple such basic functionality. Anyone know what the search is like on Windows 8?

How about a Windows 8, Developer Edition? A version that doesn't have Metro, just the basic start menu and trimmed-down version of their operating system specifically designed for software developers and gamers who want power and efficiency, not pretty sliding menus. I would rather my computer's RAM be occupied by the far-odd blocks on Minecraft than a smooth windows frame for some gidget that I never wanted, nor will I ever use.

I like your thinking, but Microsoft want developers to code apps for Metro, so how would they test them if Metro wasn't included? They could have a sort of trimmed down test environment or even an emulator but I can't see them doing something like that either.

What?! Don't believe in Santa, huh? I know someone who's getting a lump of coal in their Xmas stocking this year! (Which nowadays with the price of eting your home is a pretty good gift!)

It's a legal term. The Santa Clause permits Santa Claus to legally enter people's houses uninvited.

Google tells me it was also a Tim Allen film.

What's worse is you can't even tell whether you were the same "you" a year or even the smallest fraction of a second ago. All you know is that whatever "you" are, you can observe one particular brain's lifetime of memories at this particular instant in time. The sense of continuity could just be an illusion caused by instantaneous access to that one particular brain's short term memory. It's funny because the mind's sense of continuity of consciousness and self identity seems to be one of the very strongest connections it has. Trying to rationalise this and realise it's just an assumption that "you" remain the same person from one moment to the next doesn't help much because I get the feeling that ignorance is bliss in this respect.

Whether it would be the same "you" or not is another question, but really it wouldn't matter. It would be you in all ways that count.

"All the ways that count" are only the ways that matter to other people, if it's not the same you. In that case it no longer matters to the original "you" also as they are lost - but it certainly should matter to that original "you" before they step into the teleporter! Your argument implies that for hermit who has never and will never interact with another living thing, it does not "count" whether or not they commit suicide - just because no-one is aware afterwards of the effects if they do do it, themselves included - but it would matter to them - particularly before the event!
