Even within ethanol, ethanol from sugarcane is far more efficient than from corn. The stupidity of corn subsidies means we keep out imports of cheap sugarcane while impoverishing countries like Haiti that cant sell its sugarcane crop. It also means coca cola tastes better everywhere else except the US.
