Comment I drive more. (Score 1) 635

Retired, bought a motorcycle and put many more miles on it than on my car. Those miles are put on in the 7 months of not winter when I can ride the bike too. As for the kids driving. Too much of a hassle to get a license, buy gas, buy insurance, follow the rules and any number of things that make it difficult to get in a car and go.

About the seagulls, could it be because the gulls glide so much better? At least the larger gulls do. They lock their wings and go and go, little to no flapping riding the wind and thermals. They are also near the top of the airborne predator lists, very few other birds will even attempt to take a adult gull.

Each branch of the military has a reading list that is very good. Usually they are put out by the members of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. For those of you that get your military knowledge from television, reading some of the books on these lists will help you gain a understanding of how the military works and lives.

Thought this article was from the Onion for a bit, there are rivers running into S.F. Bay. Does the dam back the water up until it reaches Stockton, which runs somewhere around 10 to 30 feet above sea level? So might not every foot of dam will have the same amount of water on both sides after awhile. Oh, yeah I forgot there are going to be big pumps putting all that water on the other side of the dam. Wonder what is going to power those pumps? Will it eventually look like the Ninth Ward in New Orleans after Katrina?

The market share is still expanding, just at a slower rate. Most of us have a basic library of e-books already and are not buying as much as we used to. If the price difference between a electronic published and one printed on paper is not that great, then the tree dies. When a paper book is not one that I am going to read again, off it goes to the used book store for credit on my account. Try doing that with a e-book. Where is this survey getting its data? If the numbers are coming from Association of American Publishers and they (the AAP) are using the big 5's reports then this could be a GIGO problem.

You just keep diluting it with seawater until it reaches the level of salinity that is acceptable. Maybe even start the dilution at the outflow of a sewage treatment plant, where treated, fresh water is introduced into the ocean. That way you stop killing organisms that cannot handle the freshwater. About every city that has it sewage plant outflows going into a ocean creates dead zones.
