With chrome, wrench, options, personal stuff, sigh in with you google account. It even automatically installs your extensions I believe.

Actually, after searching around for answers, it looks like there's a 2D version of Unity available now that can be selected when logging in.

I for one will be switching due to driver bugs. The Unity interfaces uses desktop acceleration which for whatever reason STILL has issues with mplayer going full screen. Using the classic desktop makes the issues go away. If anyone has heard of this and has any ideas I'm all ears. Neither the nvidia.com drivers, or the open source drivers work correctly with Unity + Mplayer full screen. Although it's been at least since the previous Ubuntu release that I've tested it.

I take it you don't have kids. Young kids learn understand and understand a lot through repetition. My son used to watch Sesame Street and Toy Story ad nauseum and I could seem him pick up more and more every time we watched it. Of course you tell them no from time to time, but shit, I gotta do things too like wash the dishes, take a shower, etc, so I turn on a show or movie sometimes so he can be entertained while I get some work done.

My biggest gripe is Google calendar integration in general is it's buggy as heck. Alarms you can't make go away, permission denied errors when updating a calendar entry, etc. Caldav which is built into Lightning when used with Google wasn't even usable for me. Provider for Google Calendar plugin for lightning is better, but still far from perfect. Reminder alarms can be dismissed reliably with Provider for Google Calendar, but I still get the occasional modification failed... and I *only* use Thunderbird to enter and modify event. I sync to google to get the reminders on my phone.

I'd file a bug about the issues, but it's all seemingly random. I can't get a modification failed to happen at will.

I have a WNR3500L also a very nice device (only one radio antenna tho), but a bit cheaper. Only complaint is that the signal isn't nearly as good as my ol' Linksys WRT54GL. I think mainly due to the Netgear having the antennas integrated into the plastic housing, but maybe that's just the nature of 802.11n.

And that's why they ask "what you do plan to shoot?" "Whatever strikes my fancy and I don't want to carry around a big pack" is a valid answer, so of course they'll recommend a telescopic zoom, the artifacts are a trade off. But if someone is only doing portraits, macro, or whatever, obviously a very different lens will be recommended. Now people like you and me probably do all our research ahead of time and know exactly what you want, but sometimes it's nice to talk to someone with experience that knows what they're doing. Maybe the softness around the corners on the sigma lens really aren't as bad as they make it out to be so you can get that and save yourself $300 or whatever. This is something you'd probably never get at BB.

I'm still very much an amateur, but uv filters are basically worthless. If you're worried about protecting the lens, a hood helps keep things away from the lens, and if you drop your camera, you might get lucky like plenty others out there and only walk away with a broken hood.

I used to have 250 texts on AT&T for $5 as well. It was a good pricing point. I never used close to 250 texts. I pay $10 for 1000 now, which, ok, it's more, but I'm willing to pay the extra $60/year for the convenience of texts (lets face it, text messages are integrated much nicer in phones than IM clients since you don't have to add anyone, or get them to run an IM client as well). Now it's $20 for unlimited, that equals out to $240/year, fuck that. If they force this upon people I'll just say no thanks and hopefully get them to turn off texts entirely for me and use an IM client instead... in fact the $120/year already seems pretty ridiculous (since it is), but what can I say, money isn't really that tight for me and I'm lazy. :)

I talked to the local City Sanitation department about disposal of Mercury (had an old thermostat that I replaced), and CFLs. They have no restrictions, said just toss em in the trash. As far as CFLs go, I believe most big box hardware stores have recycling programs, where you can drop you old bulbs off.

The problem I have with CFLs is
1) No dimming unless you buy and install a special dimmer and bug special dimmable CFLs--c'mon get real.
2) Very slow start up (if at all) in cold weather--some light up better than others, but none that I've seen advertise outdoor use.
3) Non standard sizes, such as candelabra bulbs are extremely unreliable. I bought 4 of these, after 3 months, only 1 was still working. Perhaps I had a bad batch...

When I bought my new monitor I had to look around a bit for a monitor that did 1920x1200. The thing is, all of the cheaper monitors are now 1080, it's only when you get into the more expensive IPS panels and what not that you find higher resolutions. Ended up spending around $450 or so I believe on an HP ZR24w. The Dell Ultrasharps are also very nice. They have fantastic color and viewing angles in addition to the higher resolutions, but just expect to pay for it.

I also miss the ultra high resolutions that the older CRTs had--good luck finding one! :)

For the record, I hereby make up the word exacoin and define it as 10^12 bitcoins. I figure with a bit of inflation this term might eventually start getting pretty popular.

Sadly I've noticed a lot of Netbooks shying away from SSDs now. That was a huge selling point for me with my Netbook--it coming with an SSD. I don't have to worry about my 3 year old son shaking it around too much, I don't have to worry about carrying it around while it's on, etc. The thing would be perfect if it came with a built in GPS receiver. What the heck do I need a 250GB drive on a Netbook for? It has an 8GB drive and it's sufficient, a bit tight, but sufficient.

You might be waiting a while, Blizzard doesn't release their games on Steam as they have battle.net, and from what I remember, they only go on sale after quite a while has passed.

Nope, and Google Chrome uses this same trick if I'm not mistaken.
