Only in the sense that bigots get relief from making fun of minorities. Otherwise, as someone from NJ, this is some high-level bullshit that should be mocked.

"Discovery credit often goes to the first person to successfully exploit the thing discovered."
Only if you subscribe to a dominator culture value system. Otherwise, you can say the New World was discovered about 50,000 years ago, according to the latest findings.
Like most other things, the backs of the working class and the destruction of the environment.
Current, modern cars are hackable by the government. An official from the Clinton and Bush I administration came out and said so. It is already suspected that Rolling Stone reporter, Michael Hasting, was killed out of revenge by someone taking over his car.
The fact the freezing process destroys the cells is all you need to know that cryonics is bullshit.
There are a few ways to extend your life or consciousness, but the technology isn't there yet: a) cellular repair via nanobots gives you the same body for years to come; or b) high resolution brain scans to effectively digitize your brain.
I think if someone was desperate enough to preserve themselves today, I would go for the brain plasticization route. Then, hope one day that you can be scanned in and have your consciousness revived. Although here's something to ponder: would you really have a continuity of consciousness with that method...would it be like waking up from sleeping?
Either you've created the greatest compression algorithm ever, or you just condensed the entirety of Reddit into a single paragraph!
A union thug or employer looking over your shoulder to make sure you vote the right guys in. Or a husband that will force his wife to vote for his candidate under threat of violence.
Since we cannot tell one from another, this is why we have the saying "this is why can't have nice things".
You assume you have "ownership" of genetic material that's been around for millions and billions of years. You do not.
They just happened to be Henrietta's. The real stars here are the people who conducted the research and actually did the work.
I mean, if someone used my cells to do something incredible for science, I don't feel like I am particularly deserving of any credit. Those cells have nothing to do with me as a person or my actions.
Banks are incredibly dirty when it comes to appraisals. For the two houses I've bought, the appraisal magically came in at exactly my offering price, since the bank wants to close the deal and start collecting interest. On the topic of upgrades, it depends upon the neighborhood and how much they matter for a given market.
Maybe Zillow should shut its mouth and not be in business then? If a real estate appraiser made uninformed decisions like that, he/she would have their credentials taken away and would be sanctioned under ERISA. I'm not sure that what Zillow does isn't a form of libel.
That's a question that should not be asked of anyone in the first place.
For $150 more, you would get a shit-ton of goodwill by building them here in the US. Since most people get these phones financed by their cell phone companies, you wouldn't even notice the difference.
I think a lot of this hand-wringing is just masturbation unless we can see what something like an iPhone completely made in the USA or under Fair Trade conditions would cost. It's easy to for a Westerner to feel righteous indignation about these working conditions in China. However, I want to see how many people will put their money where their mouth is when they are required to pay based upon first world manufacturing costs.
