Comment Bomb threats (Score 1) 540

Scientology is very big on making bomb threats. Mind you, they make the bomb threats in other people's names. They made bomb threats on behalf of Paulette Cooper (see Operation Freakout) where they got her finger prints on a piece of paper, added the threat then mailed it. It continues to this day, where they put up a YouTube video claiming to be from Anonymous and making bomb threats. (They really goofed on that one. They made a DVD on black PR on Anonymous. On the DVD, they had a copy of the fake video, but it was in higher resolution than the one upload to YouTube. Gee, where could they have gotten that hi-res copy?)

VMware Confirms Source Code Leak 109

Gunkerty Jeb writes "Purloined data and documents, including source code belonging to the U.S. software firm VMWare, continue to bubble up from the networks of a variety of compromised Chinese firms, according to 'Hardcore Charlie,' an anonymous hacker who has claimed responsibility for the hacks. In a statement on the VMWare Web site, Ian Mulholland, Director of VMWare's Security Response Center, said the company acknowledged that a source code file for its ESX product had been leaked online. In a phone interview, Mulholland told Threatpost the company was monitoring the situation and conducting an investigation into the incident."

Blame the lack of easy use of Access.

I routinely wanted to share out a simple sheet, allowable for anyone to edit easily, but have always fallen flat on my face by the complexity of simple tasks.

Yes I'm a novice user, however like Excel, I can use Calc or any similar thing because the interface is similar and or easy to use. I cannot use a database and have people interface with it to updated it without having to create a form, create a web interface or other complex things which are beyond my ability.

Now, you add database like abilities to Excel, and a lot more people would use them (like linking to other workbooks, multiple users editing simultaneously etc.)

Everyone gets help in Office suite, however Access remains the most neglected app. Only education or simplicity can change that, and people are not in the mood to learn new things*

Man Who Downloaded Bomb Recipes Jailed For 2 Years 741

chrb writes "Asim Kauser, a 25-year-old British man, has been jailed for two years and three months for downloading recipes on how to make bombs and the toxin ricin. Police discovered the materials on a USB stick Asim's father gave to them following a burglary at the Kauser family home. Asim pled guilty and claimed that he only downloaded the materials because he was curious. A North West Counter-Terrorism Unit spokesman said, 'I also want to stress that this case is not about policing people's freedom to browse the Internet. The materials that were downloaded were not stumbled upon by chance — these had to be searched for and contained very dangerous information that could have led to an explosive device being built.'"
