Comment Text wrapping (Score 1) 2254

I like the clean up a lot. Most of the site is a lot easier on the eyes.

That said, as a UX designer, my one nit is the text wrapping.

The huge center columns are, and have been, a little hard to read. Eyes have a hard time tracking across really long sentences. It would be nice they wrapped sooner for users with large browser windows. Really long lines of text are kind of typography / page layout no-no.

Aside from that, nice work!

I'm a flash developer, and from what I remember, the Mac version of flash doesn't auto update. But maybe I'm wrong.

That said, others need to start doing this if we're going to migrate to HTML 5. Flash 9+ has something like 99% penitration. It's just too damn easy to develop with flash. It's a POS, but you know your products will get to your end users.

I'm sorry, but you're just plain wrong. Find something with comparable specs, and it's going to cost you about the same amount of money. Moreover, Apple sweetens the pot for student with a 15% discount a lot of very nice free software and, as I recall, a free $100 - $200 dollar printer and or iPod Touch. Ohh, and two stickers.

Moreover, in my experience, Macs tend to depreciate slower and last a bit longer then my Dells.

I'll be happy once Apple allows me to strip the DRM off of my 128kps files locally. I'm a music junkie, and I really don't feel like paying $200 to "upgrade" and re-download hundreds of songs. It would be nice if I could (legally) do it locally for free.

I guess someone is trying to make a quick buck.

The lawsuit comes after the federal Environmental Protection Agency denied California a waiver from US law needed to enact its own efficiency targets. Fifteen other states or state agencies are set to join the action. It challenged the Epa's denial of California's request to implement its own emissions law — which would require a 30% reduction in motor vehicle greenhouse gas emissions by 2016 by improving fuel efficiency standards. For years, California has been allowed to set its own environmental targets in recognition of the "compelling and extraordinary conditions" the state faces — and the Epa has never before denied California a waiver request. The other states joining the fight are: Massachusetts, Arizona, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, Rhode Island, Vermont and Washington."

The Seminal estimates that Radiohead sold about $10 million-worth of albums as of 10/12, assuming that their source was correct that approximately 1.2 million people downloaded the album from the site, and that the average price paid per album was $8 (we heard that number too, but also heard that a later, more accurate average was $5, which would result in $6 million in revenue instead)."

"With the release of Windows Vista, Microsoft has unleashed something quite new on the Web — the "C" fonts; Cambria, Calibri, Candara, Consolas, Constantia, and Corbel." The article goes on to state that "If you're a web designer and not using Vista then this download is mandatory since it will let you see your page as your Vista users see it." This means all of the web sites I have been developing with Arial, Helvetica and Verdana for the last ten years are now going to have display issues because of the new fonts. Lovely."

'John Kanzius happened upon the discovery accidentally when he tried to desalinate seawater with a radio-frequency generator he developed to treat cancer. He discovered that as long as the salt water was exposed to the radio frequencies, it would burn.' Whether or not this pans out, I have no idea, but it sounds interesting."

An anonymous reader noted that Zune Scene is reporting that the Zune DRM has been cracked with software now available that strips the DRM from Zune Marketplace tracks and those shared with WiFi.
