An anonymous reader writes: Google has released version 10 of its browser. The update brings hundreds of bug fixes as well as many features that have been available on the Chrome beta and dev channels to users interested in using Chrome's latest builds. Chrome 10 also addresses 23 security vulnerabilities in the WebKit-based browser (easily more than Google has ever fixed before): 15 rated as High, three rated as Medium, and five rated as Low.

darthcamaro writes: In a great example of how open source Linux tech can be used to help enable proprietary applications, Novell is now out with a new version of SUSE Linux Enterprise Linux for SAP. The big improvement is the inclusion of high-availability module that includes OCFS2 (Oracle Cluster File System 2).

"Using OCFS2, you can now cluster a much wider range of applications for higher availability using cluster-aware POSIX locking," Dorfman said. "You can also resize your clusters and add new nodes on the fly. Cluster-aware applications will also be able to make use of parallel I/O for higher performance."

wiredog writes "The Atlantic has a brief piece on what is likely to be the first photograph (a daguerreotype) showing a human. From the article: 'In September, Krulwich posted a set of daguerreotypes taken by Charles Fontayne and William Porter in Cincinnati 162 years ago, on September 24, 1848. Krulwich was celebrating the work of the George Eastman House in association with the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County. Using visible-light microscopy, the George Eastman House scanned several plates depicting the Cincinnati Waterfront so that scholars could zoom in and study the never-before-seen details.'"
