It doesn't. Everything moves away from us, and galaxies that are twice as far move twice as fast.
Now if you'd be in one of those galaxies that moves away from us, and you'd look around you'd notice exactly the same thing: everything moves away from you, and galaxies twice as far move twice as fast.

So in a sense, you could think that you are in the center of the universe.

But we all know that in the center (exactly in the center) is Eternium ^^

If you need to comment your code you did something wrong and you should refactor it.

Inventor of C++ when asked 'How do you debug your code?', said: 'I don't, if I have to debug the code to understand it, it means the code is wrong and I rewrite it'.

This would suggest that 'snow-line' might have been much closer the to earth... I'd say 25% closer?

I've read somewhere that the 'snow-line' is a place where the comets are born. Pulled by the gravitational forces as our solar system travels around the milky way, they got 'pushed' or 'bounced' towards our sun.

Jumpgate Evolution Delayed 29

Perhaps emboldened by the similar setback to Champions Online, Jumpgate Evolution developer NetDevil has announced that the space MMO will not be released in June, as was originally planned. NetDevil's president, Scott Brown, said, "One of the things we've always promised is that we would not release an unfinished product, nor would we subject players to a sub-par experience. ... Jumpgate Evolution is nearly feature complete, but since entering the Friends & Family phase of testing we've been able to bring new eyes onto the game and get solid, crucial feedback from actual players and fans. Based on these results, it is clear that the product needs more time to meet its objectives. As an example, we have received and read lots of feedback regarding the instanced and public PvP systems. The feedback has been vital in helping us polish and improve this core feature of the game." A new release date has not yet been selected.

What Do You Call People Who "Do HTML"? 586

gilgongo writes "It's more than 10 years since people started making a living writing web page markup, yet the job title (and role) has yet to settle down. Not only that, but there are different types of people who write markup: those that approach the craft as essentially an integration task, and those that see it as part of UI design overall. The situation is further complicated by the existence of other roles in the workplace such as graphic designer and information architect. This is making recruitment for this role a real headache. So, how do you describe people who 'do HTML' (and CSS and maybe a bit of JavaScript and graphics manipulation)? Some job titles I've seen include: Design Technologist, Web Developer, Front-end Developer, HTML/CSS Developer, Client-side Developer and UI Engineer. Do you have any favourite job titles for this role?"

Should Good Indie Games Be More Expensive? 150

spidweb writes "Indie gaming blog The Bottom Feeder has an article on why independent games should be more expensive. The enforced low prices on XBox Live, Amazon, and iTunes might feel good now, but they'll kill off the variety and depth gamers are hoping indie developers can provide. From the article: 'Every year, life is getting more and more expensive. Insurance. Rent. Food. And, at the same time, games are getting cheaper and cheaper, sometimes as cheap as a dollar, as we engage in a full speed race to the bottom. This is not going to help developers stay in business. This is not how a healthy industry is maintained.'"
