I was thinking of saying something similar, about not using social media. However it occurred to me that they could just as easily read your email if they wanted to. So it would require never writing any email saying anything negative about your former company, to anyone... Well that is not freedom of communication in the slightest.
You would end up having to _believe_ that you actually weren't discruntled to be able to hide it successfully. At that point, its 1984 and you are changing the way you think because of fear of persecution.

What a great society we live in! Think nice thoughts!

The bush pictures are firmly and clearly comparing his intelligence and facial features. Sure maybe making fun of the way people look is something one can't do anything about, so it should be viewed the same, but its not. One could argue intelligence is somewhat inherited as well, so where do you draw the line? Should we not call out morons in power?

I'm no obama fan and i certainly think bush is a war criminal, however it is a mere coincidence that monkey in one context means one thing and monkey in another means a complete other, and both are being used to describe presidents at a time.

There are far worse insults to throw at obama that aren't racist. Like how he uses robots to murder people because its more humane. Or how he is just the same in power as anyone else and he is really a hopeless president.

A simple comedy. I though james franco was pretty funny, again, not because the movie was intelligent, but because he had delivered his lines well. There were a few funny jokes, made much better by the delivery. The actors at least thought they were being funny.

Its the kind of film you want to have a few drinks and a joint before you watch it though. Some nudity, but not much, the oblig anal rape scene, lots of sex jokes and seth rogenesque buddy buddy dialog... Its similar to national lampoon or austin powers or something like that. Not that seth rogen is near as funny as mike myers, i dont mean to say that.

Point is, it was worth the download to me. And I do not support america (although against NK, well lesser of two evils right.)

I should like to point out that the movie was filmed in BC canada and stars a canadian. So its hardly the most patriotic movie for americans in the first place. So in short, i disagree with the previous comments I have seen posted today.

I think that "conservatives" have a huge gap between what they say they want and what they actually achieve.

Were corporations historically people? Did conservatives change that. Yup.

Was america historically a torture state? Did conservatives change that? Yup.

Was america founded on religious principles, being one nation under god? Or did conservatives change that? Yup.

Was hemp and marijuana historically demonized? Did conservatives change that because they feared the blacks and mexicans? Yup.

I can obviously find hundreds of more examples of conservatives changing things for the worse. Saying that conservatives want things to stay the same does not equate with the rise of corporatism in the us in the last 40 years. Nor does it equate with the greed is good and inequality is great mentality which predominates conservative thought.

You might just have to realize that "conservatives" are far from the historical definition of conservatives "resistance to change" and other attributes. Oh how I wish it were so. America wouldn't have killed hundreds of thousands in iraq, corporations wouldn't be people, wealth inequality would go back to 1950s levels, and do nothing bankers would be vilified as the enemies of real working people.

In short, there is absolutely nothing conservative about today's so called american conservatives. It's a fiction, a more friendly name on the pro corporate anti public interest party. I would name it the fascist party, matching it up to a proper historical definition. If anyone was allowed to use that term anymore.

Having been to a few retirement communities, and watched some documentaries on dementia, this one sounds like paradise to me. Generally dementia patients need a stressful amount of care that "modern" hospitals struggle to provide. Reading about these folks all living happily together like this is idyllic and for sure where I would want to end up if I lost my marbles. I have no delusions that I will be rich and be able to care for myself in that sort of state, nor would i want to burden my children with caring for me as my grandparents did to my parents.

But sure I guess, pile some more guns on the problem you have with healthcare in your country. See if that works.

Maybe if you RTFA you would notice that it is a bit more complicated than that. The organization or individual who went after the centrifuges infected at least 5 different companies. An electric company, a steel manufacturer, 2 different industrial supply companies and a military importer /exporter company. These targets were all brand new infections, not passed from org to org. So they would have had to break security at at least 5 firms independently. Not too shabby.

You should read the second link, because it is quite fascinating. Who ever did it exploited the servers directly (as opposed to laptop vectors or smart phones or whathave you), and even went so far in two of the companies as first infecting the virus scan servers (one machine named kaspersky, another avserver...). Must have been awfully ballsy and confident about their viruses stealth.

So we have learned that it was a directed attack, over multiple targets, the initial infection was most likely delivered by network access and not by USB.

I think your summary misses most of the interesting parts. The name of the one company with hardly any context would not have added to the slashdot summary at all and would most likely make people miss out on nice simple deconstruction which the second link provides.

How Alibaba Turned November 11 Into the World's Biggest Online Shopping Day 115

hackingbear writes Bummed that you're home alone on date night, or stuck in your mom's basement, yet again? Don't worry. A new gadget or some scuba gear could help. Observed on November 11 — or "11.11," for the date with the most 1s — Singles Day, which started out as a joke among a group of male college students attending Nanjing University in the 1990s, has become the world's biggest online shopping day, thanks to the e-commerce prowess of China's Alibaba Group. On this day last year, they sold twice what all US companies sold on Black Friday and Cyber Monday combined. This year, Alibaba has decided to take its 11.11 promotions worldwide, highlighting global brands including online jewelry store Blue Nile, clothing brand Juicy Couture, and even Costco. Amazon has tried to get a piece of the action. The Seattle-based company launched promotions for the holiday last year on its Chinese site, and it's done so again this year.
