Greece Is Running Out of Money, Cannot Make June IMF Repayment 743

'The four installments for the IMF in June are €1.6 billion ($1.8 billion). This money will not be given and is not there to be given,' Interior Minister Nikos Voutsis told Greek Mega TV's weekend show. Shut out of bond markets and with bailout aid locked, cash-strapped Athens has been scraping state coffers to meet debt obligations and to pay wages and pensions. With its future as a member of the 19-nation eurozone potentially at stake, a second government minister accused its international lenders of subjecting it to slow and calculated torture.

It's Planetary Resources that wants the U.S. to break the treaty. Remember that name. No doubt it will become the Wal-Mart of outer space.

If that's the price of actually developing space industry to the point of having a Wal-Mart of outer space, so be it. Then I can buy me a space ship and fly... past the sky.

Immigrants work in the UK, pay their taxes and then return to their own countries before they burden the UK for services that those taxes pay for - benefits, pension, NHS etc.

You have a citation for that? Because I saw a study that said, with much fanfare, that they're on average net contributors. And then another that controlled for age and concluded that's because they're more concentrated around the peak age for working; compare like for like and there's not much difference.

While you may think that supports your point, it doesn't. We don't know that they go home when they're old, because they haven't been here long enough to become old.

There should be something like an associate member status and a probationary period, This basically is what happened in the US. A territory, once it had its shit sorted and kept it so, could apply and would be admitted as a state (or sometimes several).

Contrast this with Hungary's admission:

EU: Your economy is too state controlled and your political system is so corrupt it makes the Eyeties blush. Sort it, and you can come in.

Hu. We promise we will, really. Let us in!

Comment Specs seem a little weaker (Score 1) 133

Apart from the display, the specs seems bit weaker on the Dell - the Macbook Pro has more storage capacity, and a faster processor even in the base configuration.

Also the Macbook Pro 15" now has the ForceTouch track pad, which will be more useful over time (and Apple makes excellent trackpads anyway, Force Touch or not).

I have a Macbook Pro 15" Retina currently, that I use in non-scaled mode (so I get 1:1 use of the pixels). I'm not really sure how much better the higher resolution would look on that small a display.

India Ends Russian Space Partnership and Will Land On the Moon Alone 119

An anonymous reader writes: The Russian space program has experienced numerous accidents and delays recently, leading Indian officials to call into question its long term viability. Now India has decided to pull out of a partnership with Russia for a mission to the moon. According to the Examiner: "Previously, India was scheduled to launch a Russian lander on one of its rockets and send it to the lunar South Pole. Now, according to a story in Russia and India Report, India will go it alone, building its own lander to touch down on the lunar surface within the next few years.
