No worries, it's been known to happen to me too :)

It actually gets worse: You and I can have a gun on the school grounds in our cars, but my daughters' teachers (along with the rest of TX [at least public, not I believe Charter it's up to the administration] teachers) cannot. So, if they are working late (not likely in elementary, but more common in HS), they have to just hope for the best. It's a really horribly written law.

Accidental hack, but in probably early to mid 90's, I took an old analogue VCR (it had push buttons, but if you pulled the plate off the front, there were dials to fine tune), connected it to at least 100" of speakerwire that I ran from my bedroom to the (adjacent) garage & around (the inside of) the garage ... after fiddling with the dials for a while (I was a bored teenager), I found I could occasionally pick up cellphone calls (a rare thing in my town at the time). I thought it was cordless phones at first, but on one call people were discussing how to get somewhere and eventually they faded out of my range. Someone that knows old cellphone tech can probably narrow when down further.

My GTX680 pushes my 4k just fine* in games.

*Obviously for varying degrees of 'just fine' - I set my AA really low (like 2x) or sometimes even off because doubling/quadrupling (depending on how you're counting) the resolution (over my 1080p) I find it still looks way better than 1080p + 8-16x AA. My 4k is also 24" (price came down since I bought it, dang it!) so that helps, I'm sure. Oh, and yes, it is gorgeous for Photoshop :)

Roger that, I do that sometimes myself. I hate all forms of censorship (save self-censorship, I can choose what I want to see :)) & when Dice pretends they don't do it and then we find blatant examples where they do ... it's sad.

My karma can take it, but I think it's a shame that what would have been 'the big story' today was suppressed by Dice. If Soylent, et al weren't so lame, I'd have jumped ship, but /. is still one of the best sources for discussion.

Say what you (not you specifically) will about /. going downhill, there's still much good signal in the noise - just hard when the corporate overlords expect you to not look behind the curtain.

Is it trolling when truthful? I clicked those links ... I didn't think Dice was meddlesome, but /. seems to be the only one not covering it, so ... maybe the AC (or Scotsman, above) is right.

Thanks. This is probably the best option. I haven't ever had to deal with this before recently so I just used what I had handy -- my multitool. I also have a few cans of CorrosionX.

I have one that I've carried and abused daily for years, still working, though I think it's getting close to needing a replacement. My biggest problem, because I wear it on a necklace chain, is that it's been getting sweat on the contacts which eventually have gunked up and corroded. I was able to scrape it off with a knife, but that scraped off the gold plating and exposed the copper underneath, which is of course corroding much worse. I've got the private key locked away here somewhere so I can flash one of my spares and be up and running quickly, or I can just add the new key to the places I use it before it croaks. I've had more problems with USB ports getting worn out.

Not saying I disagree entirely, my last car was new as well (10 years ago, so I haven't made a payment in 5 years), but your comparison wasn't 100% on.

Let's see, I'm no mathematician (in fact I had to Google how to even spell it), but 40% every year seems like it couldn't sustain decades ... Someone better at math correct me if I am wrong, but to have a 'normal lifespan' of even 1 decade means no more than 10% loss every year (on average).

Sometimes it's better to not double-down when you're wrong. :)
