It is safer to predict that due to the quickly developing VR tech, many more will work from home because it's cheaper, greener, and better utilizes everyone's time.
There will be no reason to meet face to face for work.
Even today it's just the old habits.
This is not an ad. Early VR projects are interesting, and this post (even though it could be used for publicity) belongs here.
That's exactly why it is an ad. They should have mentioned other projects in this area and maybe compare them. Then it would be a lot more interesting.
It's the same 360 but with the added 3D effect (stereo actually).
If it wasn't, it could have mentioned also the Samsung Beyond camera project or the Panocam 3D or 360heros.
Oh well...
For example:
- Manage inventory of groceries (I hate to discover that there's no milk in the morning with hungry kids and no time for shopping)
- Warn if I forget to lock the door and started moving away it (I hate to go back up just to check I haven't forgotten)
- Turn off ALL lights when I'm going out (hate to scan all the rooms or feel bad if I don't)
There's more, of course.
I can tell the same by looking at some of my neighbors
I know - my point is that everybody slows down before cameras and speeds up again afterwards. If the cameras would share the data and measure average speed between the first and the last camera, and check if that speed was OK, then it would be valuable.
I drive a lot in Israel and use an app that warns me about cameras and spots frequented by traffic cops. Never got a ticket so far.
They could take pictures of all cars, not necessarily speeding, and measure their average speed. Could get those 50 million back.
Really?
All large companies have the same IP strategy and they behave exactly the same simply because they can. MS is no exception. Grow up already.
Android makers are far from being as slow as you imply. If these patents would be worthless, they wouldn't pay anything in the first place.
Phones and tablets do not replace desktops and laptops. Chances are you wrote your post on a laptop.
MS has a much wider product line than you imply. Using Skype perhaps?
Bloated manpower? Mind to prove this statement?
Patents are a monopoly on ideas
That's also a propaganda term. The patent system is flawed but not as much as you imply. You can only patent an idea that's not obvious and novel, which means you need to invest a significant amount of talent, time and money in order to develop this idea. Many people expect some protection of their investment in developing their ideas.
The question is in what would incentivize inventors more, the patent system or the lack of it. I don't see a clear answer to this question.
Even if they are not precisely targeted they can hit something by mistake. Also, Iron Dome is set up to intercept only rockets that have chance to hit a real target in Israel. For instance if Hamas launches a rocket towards some Palestinian target (by mistake or deliberately), the Iron Dome won't stop it.
... it works for about 100%
and my point is: without clear evidence, both this and Postol's statements are equally Ill-founded.
Ted, shall we compromise on (100+5)/2?
so if the smartwatch can be as pretty as my omega, I'd use it
